The restaurant was closed for the season. The convenience store was open. The young lady there is really nice.
The men's bathroom near the parking lot was closed. The one at the restaurant location had a very bad odor. Old urine smell. It has not been cleaned well. Got a choking feeling when I entered. Whoever getting paid to keep it clean, should refund their fees .
The views are spectacular. National Airport was sooooo close. The airplanes were a sight to see landing and taking off. The Marina has wonderful decking platforms.
I've always wanted to go to City Island, a far-flung neighborhood of the Bronx that's a schlep from most parts of the rest of the city, especially if you rely on public transport. But we had the opportunity to drive there, and decided to go to CIYC for dinner. The staff were wonderful and welcoming from the moment we called to make a reservation. One wasn't needed, it turned out, but in booking it, we did secure a table with beautiful views of Pelham Bay, and the city on the horizon. The food was wonderful, and we're happy we ordered the new Mac & Cheese recipe the chef tried. We even learned a little about the local life from our server who was a proud "clam digger". The restaurant is open to the public, attire is casual, and parking is available.
Excellent food, great service, and a beautiful view. What a wonderful find that’s so close and yet feels so far from the city.
This is where you want to be. It's more like family!
I will not say names in order to keep staff and management information private, but to start off I am heavily disappointed with this establishment. A manager at this establishment made an emotional decision due to their mistake instead of making a professional and business one by admitting they were in the wrong. This resulted in her firing a hard and diligent worker in order to re-hire a disrespectful and non-work friendly manager who use to antagonize and bully her staff. Honestly if this is how their staff is treated I can not imagine what else goes on behind closed doors….
I don't think "unfriendly" would be accurate, but certainly inhospitable to transients. Called to ask about dinghy dock usage: "no, we don't really do that". Asked about transient mooring: "Well, thunderstorms are forecast, and we have sailing school going on." Seriously????

Delicious food and service. Great place to eat and have some peace away from the noise and get out of the heat. Very nice.
Great place to slip a sailboat if you have one. Otherwise, you can rent one, take lessons, picnic, or just enjoy the view of the monuments or the planes land at Reagan Airport. The restaurant is closed. This place is jammed early for Ju4 fireworks.
The Marian truly stands out as a hidden gem, boasting a breathtaking view of the majestic Potomac River and an atmosphere that exudes tranquility. Its serene ambiance instantly puts you at ease. What sets this place apart is the unique opportunity it provides to witness the graceful landing and taking off of planes from the nearby DCA airport, adding a touch of excitement to the experience.
Boat rentals, lessons, and tours are available here. It's also a great location for plane spotting from DCA.
Not much motorboating going on here, mostly just sailboats and kayaking. Check out their website for lessons and rentals.
CIYC is a welcoming, self-functioning marina for boaters.
The members are friendly, helpful and have great camaraderie. The view of Eastchester Bay from the porch is exceptional. The sponsor races, teach ASA approved sailboat operation for children and adults. CIYC located in the Bronx and the island and Orchard Beach offer a full day's worth of great attractions, shopping and fine dining.
Great ambience. Friendly crowd. Bonus, a tiki bar on the 2nd floor rooftop overlooking the city. Beautiful space. This club is on my favorite list. ❤️⚓️😀⚓️🛥️
Always had learn to sail on my list. After 2 hours of classroom learning we were in our boats and on the open water. It is amazing. Alison Jolly is the perfect instructor for all you beginners. SPSC staff are really helpful. Enjoy!
Awesome
The Sailing Center membership concept is awesome but the reality isn't great. An inexpensive Sailing Center membership gets you access to Ideal 18 sailboats after you've passed a proficiency test. You can use the boats anytime between 8 am and 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday as long as the wind is between 5 mph and 15 mph.

The problem is that the Sailing Center shares docks with the St Peterburg Yacht Club. SPYC sponsors regattas more than half of the weekends in Feb-Apr. When the regatta boats are going out or coming in, Sailing Center members don't have access to the docks. So, in the spring, you can really only sail during the week before 5 pm. I'm hoping that it isn't as inconvenient in the summer and fall. We'll see.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Learn-to-Sail class with Allison Jolly. She's a great teacher, both in the classroom and on the water.

Captain Gary and H were great. Both have continued to be resources for us with sailing questions long after our certifications.
It’s not a bad location, the Eagle creek park office itself is an interesting location considering the park itself, the location, the size, the geographical area, if you have foreknowledge of such things delving into them.
If you want to learn to sail, go here! I'm grateful another sailing center member recommended this club and sailing classes. I wanted to try sailing for many years; the training, instructor (Allison), and boats far exceeded my expectations. Allison's knowledge, experience, and passion for sailing and helping others learn to sail shines through. The classroom training was helpful and we got several hours of sailing time both days. I look forward to my next day sailing!
Can’t recommend the adult learn to sail class enough! Allison Jolly is an amazing teacher
Excellent location with great views. Food and drinks were really good. The waiter was a little sour, and spoiled what otherwise would have been a great day out.
I was there to fish.
Looks beautiful & organized from the outside.
Sailing the Saint Petersburg coast is super fun this of the year.

Great place to spend an afternoon by the water. Food and drinks available or bring your own for a picnic.
We sent our children to the sailing camp here last year and it wasn't as good as the ones we sent them to at Mystic Seaport or Nauticus. Strictly out of convenience, we sent them there again this year. Our children's entire experience was ruined by a young, indoctrinated, 19 year old girl on a power trip who was their counselor. Also, they allowed an eight year old boy to run around in a girls bathing suit because he uses they/them pronouns.
I have been a member since 2016. I enjoy the events planned, and the kitchen always cooks up delicious food. The wine and beer lists are great, as are the mixed drinks. It's never too busy to feel comfortable, which is one of the reasons I enjoy being a member.
City Island Yacht Club is our favorite place to spend time from May to October (during the sailing season). We moved our boat here a few years ago and can't imagine sailing out of any other club. The convenience factor, incredible community of friends and affordability is hard to beat. Nothing better than enjoying sunset and a meal with friends either on your boat or on the club porch, overlooking Manhattan -- it never gets old.

Need to sail ? Want to learn ? GO !!!
A great spot to boat watch, take a stroll or just hang out. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of dolphins swimming by in the afternoons and mornings!
Overall we had an excellent cruise. The weather was perfect And the light wins were ideal for novice sailors. We were well matched with our shipmates and the boat had enough room for us to get a little separate time. I would recommend this opportunity for anyone who wants to jump in to sailing
This is such an awesome club. The food is fabulous, and the staff are great! They are all friendly and obviously team players, helping one another out without ever being asked.
The views are beautiful as well, and it’s super clean. There is something for everyone, all ages.
I really enjoyed my time there and I definitely plan on returning.
This is such a great club with the friendliest staff. The club is know for its great food and I have never had a bad meal here.

Captains Brian Pinkston and Cheryl Lowry made every effort to make my week long sailing certification experience an amazing one! Brian and Cheryl genuinely care about the success of their students. s/v KOA is beautiful, spotless clean, and very comfortable. Be prepared to be challenged, learn a lot, and make lifelong memories!
A beautiful marina and lots of beautiful boats and yachts right next to the Indigo landing restaurant. We caught a big catfish here. Haven’t been to the restaurant since the pandemic. Their food was pretty good when I visited. Need to visit again.
Very nice yacht club, the location is ideally suited for mooring off vessels, with a hauling area, floating style docks, launch service to ferry vessel owners to and from their moored off vessels, restaurant and bar facilities and also young masters training school for young kids to acquire the skill and art of sailing.

Fantastic afternoon on the Anacostia. The boats were already rigged when we got there (from the morning reservations), which was nice and saved us time. We used a walkie-talkie to asked to be towed out. Three hours on the water. Used the walkie-talkie again to ask to be towed in. Easy, and very fun!

Wonderful sunset sail
Great views and plenty of shade, check out little store with snacks and 🍺 beer.
I just wanna say how grateful I am to the sweet lady that works in the office. My Son & grandson had a wreck in their 18 wheeler today. This lady ran out n was the 1st one checking on them. She took them in the office n took care of them. We live in Alabama and it took us about 8 hours to get there.

Near Reagan Airport. So you get to see planes arrive & depart. Also visible is a view of D.C., Capitol building and Washington Monument. Nice place to get a shot of nature and relax. I arrived by bicycle. But, parking is free for non- boaters. Boat shop & bathrooms are open.

Captain Gary and Captain H were tremendously patient and awesome instructors. Sailing is something that we want to be a family adventure. When I explained that we have 3 kiddos ages 8 and under, Gary was excited and warmly offered to let them be part of the entire experience! My wife and I both completed ASA 101/103 and 104 within a period of 2 weeks. The schedule flexibility of Gary and team was great. If you are looking to learn and not just check the block while enjoying the experience and patient assurance of experienced instructors- Smarter Sail is for you! To top it off the price is very reasonable and they are the only ASA instructors I could find that would allow us to bring our entire family- and they were genuinely excited to do so! We will be back to continue on our family sailing adventure! Highly recommend!
This is a first-rate sailing venue. They have three hoists for launching sailboats, and ample boat storage areas for regattas. Parking is in somewhat short supply. Al Lang Stadium parking won't let you park overnight.
A great place to sail

Sign a one year contract and was very happy with it, until seven months into it, got a phone call saying the boat was being sold and no longer available (just like that). And no replacement,The contrary to what the contract says!
Extremely disappointed.

Amazing Captain!!!!!! Make sure you ask for Gary. He is so patient and smart. He made the sailing experience memorable.
