A former Johns Hopkins departmental chair who is now in prison has had a devastating effect on my foundation. He would make up data and experiments for improvements to a legitimate patented cancer drug my foundation supports the development of, and then Johns Hopkins would apply for, and obtain patents which would recite these experiments and data for these fraudulent "improvements."
