Best Bar in NYC
We ate here on our first evening in NYC for the second year in a row.
The food is excellent.
Last year I didn’t realise the Crompton Ale House is also a brilliant place to hang out with friends or watching a game on your own and as a late night local.
It is a smart, clean, fun place to visit with plenty of drinks options whether your taste is for draught beer, bottles, spirits or cocktails.
During our stay we got to know almost all of Shane’s staff, including Jeremy, Niall, Sarah, Martin, Rinaldo and Calli, a fellow Bills fan (apologies for any incorrect spelling of names).
All of the staff at this place know what they are doing and are very good at what they do.
Just to emphasise how good the food is, on our last evening in NYC we went back to The Crompton Ale House a second time having promised ourselves that with all of the dining options available in the nearby area we wouldn’t go back to the same place twice, but we did, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Also Shane, a Jets fan, was kind enough to put the Bills game on one of the numerous TVs dotted around the pub and reserved a couple of seats & i assume if asked in advance would put a game on for other NFL fans visiting the bar and wanting to watch their team.

Eh... the food is subpar to mediocre. We've tried many times over the years, and same result. Locals seem to like it, maybe because of the restaurant's participation in various community fundraisers and/or personal connections. For us, that's not enough to overcome the mediocre food and service. There are too many other good options within a 15 minute drive.
This place is inviting and friendly and yummy! There was an Irish jam session the night we ate here and it was wonderful. The people who served us were so cheerful. The beef stew was out of this world!! Can’t wait to return for some more stew when it’s colder!

I came here with a group of friends this past weekend. I ordered a round of drinks and closed the tab. Just over $100 for 4 drinks because a mandatory 20% gratuity was included in the bill. Annoying, because I prefer to leave a cash tip, but whatever. Because of the mandatory 20% tip included and I paid with card, I did not leave an additional cash tip. The bartender then refused to give me a water because I “had not tipped him cash”. I told him that I had already paid a tip on the bill, and I was told that waters are not given to those that don’t tip. We left immediately, the place is not worth anyone’s time.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere. The staff are amazing and very friendly. We love coming here.

Stopped here after a grueling hike at Harriman State Park. Staff was so nice and accommodating, sat us outside with our dog and brought her fresh water. Service was great, orders taken quickly and drinks/food came out quickly as well! We were the only ones sitting outside (because it was hot AF and because of the dog) but never felt forgotten.

Food was fantastic - wings were super crispy and definitely double fried, which don't often see these days. Shrimp tacos, calamari, salad all great. Beer was cold. Great prices and portions.

Everyone entering/leaving the establishment passed our table and were also so nice and said hi to the pup. A great vibe. What a wonderful ending to our nice hike!

Nice restaurant in Peterborough. Went here a year ago and I remember the food was executed well but wasn't particularly unique. Extensive drink selection. Loved the outdoor seating in the middle of town

The best and most authentic restaurant with a stage in Riverdale near Manhattan College.
Amazing vibes. Not gonna lie, walked in here expecting a cookie-cutter restaurant-bar experience and ended up really just appreciating the ambiance and the drinks. Great spot for that. Bring a couple friends out for a drink. Food is also really good. The french dip was amazing!
The wait staff is excellent. Super friendly and fast. The food is…not great. I had the chili. I’m not a drinker but I guess it would be great for just grabbing drinks. Typical NY pub.

The bartenders, especially Angel, are amazing. Drinks are well mixed. The music, amazing. Gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian options are available. Great atmosphere 👌
Food and atmosphere are fantastic. Fired oysters are clearly the best I ever had. The only one issue was our service. Guy was slow and forgot a part of order. Regardless of this incident - the place deserves 5 stars.
Excellent food. I had the Guinness Stew. Kerry was a fantastic server. Really great duo playing.
I visited Galway pub this weekend with a group of seven. The food was very good. My Irish stew was hearty and delicious, I love the mashed potatoes inside. My other favorites were the Shepard pie and corned beef hash sandwich. The building is huge and I loved the live music. Make sure to che k out the gift shop they have a huge selection of goods to choose from!

My Guinness was warm and the burger was very over priced. The bun was cheap and you have to pay for every add on including lettuce. I asked for the buyer medium and it was medium-well. Over all disappointing.
One of the most unique restaurants and pubs in Washington State. You can find something new every time you go there. Most of all, they have more live music, and generally good, then any other place around. For RV retirees like us, having live music in the late afternoon (Happy Hour) even brought us away from the beach on a nice day. We make the effort to come here every summer, and this time, visited Galway Bay 3 times in one week.
The manager here must not have passed third grade math. I came here on a random Thursday with 10 people. There were seven people at the bar. Half our group was seated at a table. The other half wanted to order drinks at the bar. But the manager wanted all of us to only order drinks at the table from their server. I told her what difference does it make, we’re making the bar money and we plan to drink all night. And she proceeds to tell me to leave because I was “yelling “ at her. Now I don’t know about you, but if there are seven people at the bar, and I bring in a group of ten people ready to spend their money, if you kick me out you’ve lost over half of your potential profit for the night. But if you have a manager that cares more about her ego than making money then you will obviously lose customers AND profit. My suggestion. Skip this clown show bar and go to any of the numerous fine establishments in area. Save your time, money, and sanity.

Very good customer service and fresh food! I ordered fish and chips, it was well made. I could tell even the tartar was made at the restaurant. Batter was very good and the fries were fresh and very good as well.
They are pet friendly , bring your puppy to sit outside :)

Overall a nice place for lunch or grabbing a drink. Foods pretty decent though the fries could definitely use more seasoning. The outdoor atmosphere isn’t bad but the table is kinda far away from the booth seats and the back to the seat isn’t very comfortable. Other than that I have no complaints, the service was good and the outdoor area is definitely dog friendly. Would recomendable 👍

They mentioned just re-doing the menu, but we found the options seemed odd and not very comprehensive. We had a party of 8 and very few actually enjoyed their meals. Most were underwhelmed with the selection. It seemed like they were trying to design a high-end menu without high-end cooking experience.
Many of the items on the menu were not well explained on the menu, so some people got food comply different than that had been expecting.

We were visiting NYC from Ireland and staying in a hotel close by. The first night, we went in all 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 kids ate there, selection and menu we're excellent and food was delicious. Service and staff couldn't have been better.
We went back several nights after for drinks, and the bar owner Shane, staff Roger, Leo, and all were top class and really took care of us.
I'd you're looking for dinner, drinks or family meal, go there you won't be disappointed.
Very nice place to go. Staff was really nice and place looks really cool. However, I ordered fish and chips to go and a bar pretzel. Pretzel tasted like the freezer and the fish smell was so strong I could smell them bringing it from the kitchen about 2 minutes before it got there. Smelled awful. I had it in the car tied in a bag for 7 minutes. It is almost a week later and my car still smells like the fish after driving it everyday with a bunch of cleaning. That is def not normal.
Very rude bar staff with American accents. No idea how to speak to the paying customer. The blonde Irish lady who serves the outside area was amazing. You are 5 stars. Don’t bother popping into the pub for one at the triple crown, go elsewhere and have a pint with folk who are comfortable in their own skin.

Sad to come back after all these years $10 pints for a so so selection of beers, it was depressing to sit there and spend 60 bucks to drink in that environment, it single handedly put me off going for a pint

Completely blown away! Great cocktails, wonderful staff and can't say enough about the curry chicken. Wow! Looking forward to becoming a Regular. That properly poured Guinness, tho. 🤤 And did I mention the whisky list?
This past weekend we had our daughter and her fiancé’s engagement party at HH. From start to finish it was a great experience. We live over an hour and a half away and chose HH in Jersey City as a middle point for family and friends coming from all over. I choose it sight unseen. It’s a great size, but charming with lots of bright light.
I conversed many times with Jen before hand and she was responsive and helpful. She even sent photos. Extended staff helped us unload our car when we arrived. The day of the party, Alana was wonderful even jumping behind the bar when needed. While running the restaurant she consistently checked in to make sure things were running smoothly. She was great.
Kyle was our server, but that title does not even come close to what he did that day. He was so helpful and attentive and went well above anything I could have wished for. He was a real rockstar! We were late for setup (city traffic) and he made sure everything was executed perfectly. Thank you! The place was so great that after the celebration, many stayed to hang around at the bar. My only complaint was that the catered food we ordered went so fast. We ordered plenty, but it was soooo good, people came back for seconds and thirds. Thank you for making our family’s special celebration wonderful!
Great atmosphere, the live pianist was amazing. The food is always excellent. I had the Pot Roast with Colcannon (not pictured) which was so tender and flavorful. Also, if you've never been here stop at the gift shop before or after your meal. They have the best stuff.

Great speakeasy (Nucky's) for an intimate event, did a birthday here and everyone had a blast. Can do just drinks or order some apps in bulk
Very nice staff. The atmosphere was great with Irish music playing. Plenty of seating I even saw a door leading to an outdoor area where smoking is allowed. There is a sizalbe gift shop with and assortment of Irish goods. Beyond that there is a waiting area, in that area there is a room filled with cigars for purchase. After that is the restaurant/ bar. There is an additional entrance on the other side if you don't enter through the gift shop. We went for lunch, the prices are very reasonable. There is also a sizeable drink menu. I had bangers and mash and my wife had a corned beef sandwich, both were excellent. We will definitely be back!

I live just around the corner and was hoping to find a friendly local bar. I was in the mood for a burger and read good reviews about this place. To be fair the burger was pretty good, but the service was the most unfriendly I have experienced in New York. The woman behind the bar barely acknowledged me, didn't ask what I wanted to drink, and said nothing when I ordered food. To ask if I wanted a second drink she just tapped the glass. She said 4 words to me all night. She was friendly and chatty to the regulars, so she was not just having a bad day, but obviously can't be bothered with new customers . I paid the check with a credit card and was surprised to see a 3% credit card surcharge. There is nothing on the menu about this, and no mention was made to me to give me the option to pay in cash. Besides it is illegal in New York to add a credit card fee state without clearly showing the different prices.
I am a real Irish Pub fan and Triple Crown is one I can recommend without reservation. The atmosphere is loud and chaotic as you would expect of a place with great food and well placed near NY Penn Station for tourist trade and regulars alike. The bar service is superior. I love an opinionated Barkeep who recognizes a foodie when faced with one and isn't shy about making his best picks on the menu known. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Cute place and seems to be local's favorite. But giving it a 4 star because of the service. Servers were great, young but very nice and friendly, but the hostess made the experience much less enjoyable. She left us standing there wondering while she finished a casual conversation while directly looking at us, maybe it wasn't her best day. But still, at least acknowledge customers and mention that you would be right with them, and not just leave them standing there wondering if you even work there.
Now to the good part - portions are pretty big and very tasty. We had mainly salads and some wings, but all was fresh and tasted really good. They did forget a few things we ordered but it wasn't worth to fuss over.
Lots of school or college kids work there so if you are looking for a great service, probably best to lower your expectations. But if you are just looking to grab a quick bite that is decently portioned - hive them a try.
There is a bar inside and we have noticed that people order take out here quite a bit.

Great place to grab a pint, watch a game, and listen to some of the best local Irish bands around. Glad to see there are still bars that get it right. The French Onion Soup is a personal favorite.
I thought i was in a Scorsese movie.
It's so classy. Even on Wednesday there was a fantastic piano player. Service top notch and the food was excellent. Be sure to try the corned beef eggrolls
My husband and i ate here 2 nights in a row as we enjoyed the atmosphere of this quaint little Irish Pub on 7th Ave. I ordered the bangers and mash last night and tonight was the crispy chicken salad and my husband ordered the shepards pie both nights. All meals were hot, a great size and tasted excellent. We both could not complain about anything. Great selection of beers and the staff were all so friendly and service was awesome. Highly recommend
One of my favorite local pubs in JC. Great relaxed atmosphere with American Irish food. Everything is delicious... I have yet to be disappointed at this place. The service and cocktails are great.
Had a private birthday party here. Very impressed with the quick and attentive service of Nicole! Nicole was incredibly friendly and always on top of the ball. The atmosphere is amazing and the restaurant is very well decorated. Bar tenders are super friendly and the place is lively. The restaurant is handicap accessible including the bathrooms. There is no sign on the bathroom doors indicating accessibility but it is.
Excellent NYC style Irish bar. My favorite place to watch sports. Protective of the tables bc it gets nuts in there but the food is really solid. And if you're there you really should eat something.
Traditional old-school pub located in a great area. Can’t say how crowded it gets on nights / weekends, but we came as a group late on a week night and there was plenty of space to have a casual conversation without shouting over each other.

Their old fashioned met expectations for me though we weren’t given waters by default.

Was a bit concerned after got the appetizers that the plates were going to be small, but when the main dished actually got there it was a complete opposite. The main courses were so big that regretted getting appetizers and had no room for desert even though really wanted to try their pie. The service was top notch, on point and attentive. The place itself has a great atmosphere and their walls have so much stuff to look at and talk about that do not regret sitting inside. The menu is so diverse that you get lost wanting to try everything, guess it gives you a reason to go back.
Was here for a quick lunch before the all access tour of MSG. Not a fancy place by any means, but food is surprisingly good. We had the chipotle chicken burger and the salad with cranberry and goat cheese. The chicken sandwich was well seasoned and moist. The fries were delicious. I really a surprisingly good choice (sorry no pictures)
The fish and chips are very good. The chips are crispy and you can taste the fresh oil. The fish is flaky and fresh. The breading on the fish and chips was phenomenally done, The shepherds pie, however, is missing celery and onions. The setting, and the ambience of the restaurant deserves five stars.

A friend and I stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. The service was good, we enjoyed our food, the prices were reasonable. They have a loud bar where people were enjoying themselves. Thankfully the layout is well designed and the sound from the bar doesn't intrude on the dining room.

Great Irish pub right near Amsterdam. Had fun playing pool and the food was great too. We only had the chicken fingers and a cup of chili but both were great. Very friendly bartender as well. Will be back when I’m in the area.
Just had my daughters Roaring 20’s Bridal Shower in Nuckys Speakeasy last night. We really wanted something different with a cool vibe and this place did not disappoint. Sarah Rath the manager went out of her way to work with us and make our vision come to life. The bartender, Lily, was excellent, professional; served us all quickly and with a smile, and there were a lot of special requests. No one waited for a drink and everyone was so impressed by her talent and good nature. Food was great. Sarah helped me pick out the menu and she prepared a special menu card for each place setting. She helped us set up before the event and all through the night she checked in frequently. The job that Sarah and Lily and staff did was outstanding. There is absolutely not one thing I could complain about. It was really a perfect night!
Stopped in for lunch and had the lamb stew and Shepherds pie. Both were very good, especially the Shepherds pie. Also had a hard apple cider and Irish Red ale. The cider and ale were particularly nice! Great flavor for both. Also had the clamp chowder, which was a combination clamp and corn chowder. This was really good as well. All in all, a good lunch with plenty of leftovers.

Great fish and chips! Huge selection of specialty whiskey. Atmosphere is spot on. Local pub, plus.
Awesome place, discovered it a few weeks ago after several years of staying at a local hotel. Roger, Meg and Shane at the bar were super friendly. Highly recommend this place. Had the pigs in a blanket and sliders.
This place gets 5 stars because they were open after we got out of the Mariah Carey concert. 2 because the server we had named Jorge was excellent! 3 the food was good. I had a great burger, and with Jorge recommending, I add an egg, and bacon only elevated my burger to master burger. He was great with me and my family, and the drinks made it a happy birthday weekend all around. I would recommend stopping by and asking for Jorge to help you out with your food choices!
It was so good I had such a great time the food was amazing atmosphere Ambience are really good it wasn't really too loud or too slow too dim or too light it was really perfect it was just right for having fun. service was amazing.
Saw the 3 piece band, House of Hamill, at the Irish Club in West Springfield. Great time. Great music. I'm glad they ate back post pandemic.

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon for a quick lunch. To my surprise, the wait was not long at all, as we were quickly seated and attended to. The service was outstanding, I and enjoyed trying the Crompton burger, with a side of seasoned fries, along with the Peachy Bellini cocktail. The atmosphere in itself was pleasant, warm, and inviting. I would recommend this establishment to anyone touring the Chelsea, Manhattan area, and I would love to make a return soon!

Great food and friendly service, in a place open until midnight, and with beer on the tap! Tried the vegetarian Quesadilla, Nachos, and mashed potatoes. Loved the stuffed veggies, cheese, and flavors in the Quesadilla, and the toasty nachos with fresh guacamole. The mashed potatoes were done well too. A friend tried the beer and chicken Quesadilla and seemed to enjoy them. Tastefully done interiors and bar. Food can seem pricey. Tea lights at the table could shed some light on the food :) My camera saw the colors better. Free street parking nearby after 7 pm. Outdoor seating and party space are available.

A pretty good spot for a Wednesday lunch, not packed. Service was good. The restaurant has a nice vibe that is classic pub with a steampunk edge, with cogs as a regular theme. The cheese curds appetizer was awesome, and the dip was flavorful with pleasantly warm spices. I had the mushroom flatbread; the description said it would have arugula on top but mine had sprouts instead. My husband liked the fries in his fish and chips, but the breading on his fish was rubbery. Our son had a chicken quesadilla, and having tried a bite, I can say that it was very good, a nice mix of chicken and cheese. I ordered a pint of Magner’s on tap, and I haven’t had that fresh since I was in the UK in 2019, so that was nice. My husband enjoyed the Crompton red ale.
Let me just say that our server Sam was attentive and made our visit enjoyable!

Lets start with the drinks!!!

House Margarita 8/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ was pretty good.. I usually do not like House Margaritas cause of the cheap Tequila that is used but unlike others this was pretty good!!

Apps:
Dry Rub Wings were moist and on point! It had a sweet spicy flavor to them which was good! These are for sure 9/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pigs-in-a-blanket were ok. The dough was a crispy flake texture to them but went well with the yum-yum sauce that came with it 6/10⭐️⭐️⭐️

Entree:
1/2 Pound Burger - Fully loaded was the best burger I have ever had! Juicy on the inside Medium Well with Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoe, Bacon, Avocado, & Fries 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dessert:
Chocolate Lava Cake - this isn’t really a lava inside cake but the flavors were there with the taste of espresso in the sauce was devine! 8/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The ambiance was chill and TVs on with the games!!

Overall will come back again for sure!
Had a great meal last friday at the Irish house restaurant. The bar and restaurant were absolutely beautiful and inviting. We sat at the bar and Murph served us. He was the nicest bartender with great stories about Ireland. I had the fish and chips and they were cooked perfectly. I got a tour of the banquet hall upstairs which I imagine will be unbelievable when the renovations are done and the elevator is installed. It would be a great place for music and outside dining. Definitely check this place out if you want great food and a cultural experience
Restaurant is nice inside and easy to get to from Times Square. Nice cocktails and food but normal New York prices expected. The nachos were good. Nice for relaxing as couple or small group. A variety of people were there, even a bridal party celebrating bachorette party there. Nice bar where you may find single females. ENJOY!
We tried this place for the first time for Sunday lunch. And I am happy to say that it won't be the last time.

With the doors opened on both sides of this corner establishment, it felt airy and comfortable inside. Most customers chose to sit outside in this perfect weather. Service was a bit slow and could be more friendly and attentive.

We ordered some draft beer and rosé wine. Both were refreshing. The Adobo dry rub chicken wings were flavorful and perfectly cooked. Loved the Fish & Chips. Fish was crispy outside and moist inside. French fries were also very good.

Great music but not really a dance bar - they wont allow you to dance - you can only sit by the tables and have a drink. I suggest the management that if they want to be a sit-down bar the music should be less loud and more ambient-music - it was also quite unusual that at 6pm after the pride parade - after serving cold beer, food and have great loud music we wouldn’t dance.

I arrived here and went into the right side where I saw a crowded bar and a QR code for an app to pay but not order drinks. Apparently this was the wrong entrance. The other door brought me to the restaurant proper where I could order food and a drink. The burger wasn't that bad though the bun was awfully dry. I might've had more fun just getting drinks.

This bar has an old feel to it, and it even seems to relish in this history through old photographs and decor. It also has a relatively modern feel with its music choices and mezcal-infused drinks. It's not a bad place for young people in the West Village.

We have been many times and its always a lovely experience. Went there today for Easter brunch/ dinner, around 3/4pm. Food was great. The lamb was delicious. But most of all the hostess, waitress and owner were fabulous. They were so accommodating and welcoming. They always make you feel welcome. And there was a bunny serving drinks ...the best!!
We are from the UK and have lived in Jersey City for many years. Just a week ago, I mentioned how much I miss being able to go to a local pub for a Sunday roast dinner. On my walk home, I spotted Hudson Hound and to my shock, they had Sunday Roast on the menu. The food did not disappoint at all and the live music was a real bonus. Delicious roast dinner and the paté was phenomenal too. The gravy, Yorkshire pudding and mashed potatoes were so full of flavour! Beef perfectly cooked. The ONLY thing that was a bit odd for me was the roast potatoes weren't crispy and were spicy. They weren't bad at all, but weren't as traditional as I was expecting, especially as everything else was. The whole experience was great and I look forward to coming back!
A real pub in NYC! We LOVE our local. The staff are friendly, the beer selection is on point, and the pub grub is tasty - try the Gaelic Burger with a side of onion rings. There's live music and good times to be had at An Beal Bocht.

Lovely location. And sincerely some of the greatest staff. Most definitely the lightest and fluffiest fish and chips if ever had. You’ll want a fork for this one! I’ll be staying near here and come back often. The bar section and dining section make is a good night spot to either start any the bar and transfer to table or Vice versa…I could stay a while. Oh heck, I did! And will again soon.

I've been here once and I tried to go here a second time. The first- the bartender woman was snooty and aloof, she seemed resentful or something. The second time- 2+ hours before closing, I walked in, the barkeep guy told me "we're closing up soon" (the bar counter was fully occupied). I get it if you're tired, but you are clearly not closing for a little while... Whatever. It's a neighborhood thing, I guess.

Nice atmosphere with live music on Fridays. Tasty food. We had the fiesta burger and the jalapeno one....yummy!
This bar is not popular than. Before the pandemic, and that is great. It was already painful to see them move out of their historical location on Broadway.... Thanks to the team!
What a wonderful restaurant and bar/pub. It's filled floor to ceiling with ambiance. You get very personal service from the amazing staff (sometimes in that uniquely Irish way).

The food is better than the traditional basic pub fair. They have a great dinner menu with Shepard's Pie and the lot. Today I had the Chicken sandwich with a side of fries.

It was very fresh, and the bread cracked slightly as I bit into it. This is a must for a toasted bread.

If you're in the neighborhood, please, please stop by and enjoy An Beal Bocht. They have both indoor and heated outside seating!

Less lively than I expected for a Saturday night. Ordered the buffalo wings, as the menu claimed them to be the "best in upper west side." They tasted alright, but were nothing I'd write home about. The biggest plus was the draught Guinness - smooth and properly poured. The proprietor was cheery enough to liven up our night a little.

The cocktails here are THE BEST! You can order any one of them from the menu and you won't be disappointed! The food is amazing especially for the price and the team here offer service that makes you feel like you are part of the family. It's a special vibe that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the city. Love Fiddlesticks!
My wife and I went early on a Friday. Service was pleasant and great atmosphere. I had the Fish and chips which I thought was delicious and will have again some day. My wife had a burger and mentioned it was one of the better burgers she's had.
The setting and the drinks are excellent. The food was okay. I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and found it to be dry and almost like leftover chicken soup. The pretzels were good and the onion rings were also good. They had live music, which is usually great, but they had one speaker next to our table and it was very loud. We were a party of six and could not converse at all. When we did talk we had to yell. They desperately need to get a better music set up. I would go back for the mixed drinks, but likely pass on the food.

This is a place for regulars. Everyone knows your name, and is super friendly. They have a changing menu weekly and offer all the general drinks you would want. They offer party reservations for large groups and are very accommodating for extra seating. The waitresses are super friendly and fairly young. The lighting is dim for a chill time. They do play most of the big games going on in the season.
Great food. Love the ambiance and live music. Very courteous staff.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food. A warm, friendly place with hearty comfort food. The drinks were delicious, and the staff was extremely courteous. Can't recommend enough.

There were a lot of children here, who were a little loud. I'm not sure why, because otherwise it was a very classy and adult place. But besides that, I loved all of it.
