I actually (overall) enjoyed the experience i got out of Harper. It had great teachers so long as registered early + used ratemyprofessor. I was an AA student and actually really like the classes i took, the facilities, and such.

Now, here comes what i consider very fair critiques. When it comes to some of the teachers, i have spoken to them and have seen how many of them are underpaid and hence have a poor experience teaching and of which becomes a problem for students.

I was a covid student, taking a break year in between because it was so bad. The online classes were abhorrent during covid but made steady improvements as covid was lessened. The communication, workload, clarity and such was badly handled.

That all being said, I really did enjoy my time overall. Especial regards for professor Sheldon (very interesting film history class), professor Benshoof (amazing stats class, actually nearly cried when i finally realized that i had a teacher who made me enjoy learning about stats) and also my advisor.

Really really really awful experience. To preface, I’m an average student - anywhere from C-A+.

There are plenty of other community colleges to consider that are much much much more worth your money. Considering how much I paid I didn’t get a third of the education I should have and didn’t qualify for my program. Finance department is trash, counselors are ABSOLUTE trash, some teachers are good (I know they work hard) but something about all the teachers I had seemed like they have terrible bosses and are just doing the job for a paycheck.

This school has been nothing but a headache since my sister enrolled in their free AS Program. The staff doesn’t really seem to care as much as they claim. I had to take over advisement for her as the “advisor” caused her to take repeated classes even though she had passed them. Their platform is never updated, so trying to keep up with credits, gpa, etc is a nightmare. It’s reasons like this that give HBCUs a bad rap.

Absolute eyesore. Completely in disrepair. Contributes to crime in the area and needs to be demolished.

Engineering building. Geology also in building. Lab in Upson 1.
My Sister attended KC and we traveled there recently with Mom and niece for her birthday. I was glad she was able to revisit her memories there even though buildings were boarded and windows broken. The church on campus was there and I hope it gave my sister comfort to see as I'm sure it did when she attended service there while in school. She told us stories of her days there which brought it back alive in our minds. Hopefully Knoxville College can be revived to educate Our children again.

Update: Maybe it would cost a lot to improve the bike trails around Harper, but you obviously have plenty of money to build an embarrassment of deluxe parking lots and roads. What’s a few more $$ for some decent bike and walking paths?? And why isn’t anyone who can take action responding to my review?

Original Review: Bike trails around campus and reservoir vary in quality from awesome to down right dangerous. Please complete a paved trail around the reservoir. Visit Wood Dale reservoir trail for inspiration! Sidewalk coming west from Rolling Meadows suddenly ends and you’re expected to ride on the grass or risk your life on very busy Algonquin Road.
It wouldn’t take much effort and $ to make these trails complete, safer and top notch!
I hope I can contribute my books to this very nice library.
Thank you so much for The Miles of Smiles. Needed my tooth extracted. Staff were wonderful

This is also where the Small Business Center for Wilson Community College resides. A tremendous resource for anyone considering starting a business or wanting to be more profitable in their business. They offer free consulting and I’ve had the joy of offering training at this location many times..

Great instructor's !!! Very happy with everything. After riding my motorcycle fit for a few years I understand more of what the rider safety course was teaching. Grateful for all the road rash saving advice. I would suggest any new motorcycle riders to sign up for the Harper rider safety course.
We had just a quick walk around the front, the back is closed with fence. Anyway it’s so sad to see the buildings are standing there. So many memories for some people. I hope the city or the state will do something and reopen.

I attended here in 88 and 89 from Texas Great memories. I don't understand why the State will not help the school. Dates back to the 1800's during slavery.
Nice Place for study. A little bit noisy though.
