A superb art museum that rivals the best around the world and its FREE! A must if you’re visiting Washington DC with friendly helpful docents. The West building is classic art, the East is modern art and they are connected but a “starry” walkway with cafes scattered about & in both buildings. You can browse the art for hours or stop in for 15 min to get a quick art fix.
Everything from Renaissance paintings and sculptures to eclectic modern art, you can spend hours browsing NGA’s collections. They also have film screenings (you need to reserve your spot).

Amazing museum, tons of beautiful works by many famous artists. I loved the large collection of monet and van Goff. Also really enjoyed the sculpture section of the museum. Won't allow large bags and backpacks must be worn on front.
While visiting, I found that more than half of the venue was under construction, which was a bit disappointing. However, the accessible portions were quite fascinating. The exhibit provided a comprehensive journey through the history of aviation, starting from the Wright Brothers’ early airplanes and progressing to modern super-fast jets. The variety of unique exhibitions added to the intrigue, showcasing various aspects of aeronautical advancements. Additionally, there was an interesting section dedicated to the history of sports in the U.S., which was an unexpected but enjoyable inclusion.
Really beautiful art gallery! Free admission. The East building primarily has contemporary art pieces while West building contains more ancient arts. The underground concourse that connects the 2 building is also pretty cool and has a large gift shop/cafeteria. The sculpture garden is also beautiful to visit (becomes and ice skating ring in the winter)
I walk by and saw the building, return the next day with enough time to spare, arrived 11am. Make sure you have about 4 hrs to visit and before it closes. I learn a lot about the minorities that serve in the Army during WWII, Their collection of items is rich and valuable. The navigation can be complicated within the building but the museum volunteers are eager to help. Cost is affordable. Never forget history, cause it may return. Highly recommended.
One of the most amazing and attractive places in Washington DC. A great place to take your family. The National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, is an awe-inspiring tribute to aviation and space exploration. Its vast exhibits showcase historic aircraft, spacecraft, and artifacts, allowing visitors to journey through the remarkable milestones of flight and space travel. From the Wright brothers' plane to the Apollo 11 command module, it's a captivating experience for enthusiasts and curious minds alike.
This house is about Clara Barton history. It is slated to get much needed repairs in 2024 so only the first floor is available but the amazing story given by the Parks department is worth the trip. Tours begin at 1 PM but be sure to check their website for the days they are closed. Glen Echo park is next door and a great place for local art and kid's activities
Nice museum, can get crowded at times. I recommend getting tickets early as unlike the museum of Natural History, they admit by tickets. Tickets can be found free online at the Smithsonian website. Of all the museums I visited here, I found this to be one of the faster to tour and get through. Though dont take that as its not great, it is really something to see, it's just not near as big as the others.
Worth visiting! Several galleries and sections to visit, so plan ahead. Alternatively you can just walk around the gallery and enjoy

A bit disappointing as over 1/3 of the museum is currently closed for renovations, so I didn't get to see some of the collections that I had hoped to visit. Pros: friendly staff, cool gift store, and the planetarium show was pretty neat ($9 per ticket, shows beginning every half hour). You do need a free timed entry ticket to visit, that can easily be reserved online.
Everyone we spoke to before coming to New Orleans recommended this museum, we are glad we came. There was so much detail put into everything including the architecture of the building, the exhibits, the interactive displays, and the historic accounts from soldiers. Make sure to come early if you plan on trying to see everything because it’s a lot, I imagine it would take days if you wanted to read all the stories and see every artifact.
Museum has very high production value - the themed exhibits make you feel like you were really there. The museum has great informative exhibits and is a great way to spend most of a day (its huge). Could be a little more linear (it felt like we jumped around a lot between time periods during our visit; it would be nice if you followed a more linear timeline during the visit).
This a massive beautiful place, the art work and statues are impressive. Just the decor will also have you taking plenty of photos. They have several fountains,a few garden exhibits as well. It's definitely a spot to not to miss
The home was closed when we were there. The exterior needs work. A significant American. Worth the trip as it is close the Glen Echo. Plenty of parking.
As a member of the American Red Cross, this was a special visit. The tour was worth the time and informative about Clara's life. The walk around the property helps to understand the area at the time of Clara's life.
Amazing museum. Walks you through chronological order of events of the War divided by the Pacific and European conflicts. Overwhelming amount of information displayed in the perfect way. Only had about 3 hours. I got through the Pacific and had to speed through the European. Would recommend a whole day with lunch and the 4D movie in between the 2 conflicts. I did not make it to the Boeing hall but that would not take to long

The gardens surrounding the Smithsonian Castle are just stunning! There are several different areas to meander through, each with an enormous variety of plants. There are also beautiful seating areas to relax in. Take time to visit the plants all around the premises. Well worth a visit.

Museum is free but definitely reverse a ticket in advance. The line was out the door and around the block at opening time, so don't be surprised if you have to wait. It moves very fast, though. Very interesting history on aviation from the first plane flown by the wright brothers to modern day planes and drones. The "space" section definitely was smaller but no less fascinating with parts from a real exploded rocket, models of Mars rovers, and a lot of interesting signage on the mysteries of the universe and quirks of our solar system. One of the most popular Smithsonian museums and I can see why, however I don't think you need to spend all day here. 3 hours is enough time.

My husband is a WW2 buff, and we knew as soon as we saw this museum on Things to do in NOLA, we'd be going. All the exhibits are AMAZING. The people who put this place together are truly brilliant. If I can give you ANY advice, it'd be to SEE the 4D movie called Beyond All Boundaries. We go to a ton of museums and this is above and by far the best movie we've ever seen in a museum. Absolutely worth the money!! The volunteers were all wonderful and helpful as well!
Took our 3 kids to the naval aviation museum, we had a blast looking at all the different aircrafts. We even watched a movie about blue angel's. Was a very good time and it really got the kids into learning about all the different air crafts.
My kids are 7, 8, 9 & 3. They had an absolute BLAST getting hands on with so many planes! Taking them to this museum was one of the best Saturdays we've had in a really long time! I'm so glad it's Open to the Public Now!!! I hadn't been since I was a kid and I forgot how much fun it was!
Worth the visit. Got to learn so much about the war. The video exhibits, the set up, the detailing there is just too much to see and learn. Very in depth. You would need a complete day to spend here and learn about, read the letters, old documentation, learn about the outcome, the videos of leaders. Very inspirational. Definitely coming back!
I highly recommend this place. Suitable for all ages. Entrance to the museum is pre-registration on the website (because most museums in the city are free so require people to book in advance because there is usually a load on the place). There is easy accessibility for strollers. There are several floors and each floor is particularly interesting and there are many new ones that I got to know. There are activities suitable for children (movie or entrance to one of the planes). There is a buffet, the prices are not cheap but it is nice to eat there after finishing your tour of the museum.
Another home run by the National Park Service. This locale shares parking with Glen Echo - so there is a great deal. This is Barton’s house that she had built to her specifications - it’s built as a place that could respond to disaster relief. Way more closets than any human being would ever want or desire, natural light in a hall way with multiple apts in that hallway. Here you learn of a story of a beautiful heart who was thrust into the limelight because she was a doer, not just a talker. Her work with the Red Cross, something she brought here along with the Geneva Convention, the field hospitals, civil rights, and the missing soldiers bureau - these all happened because of her! And she did it all without ever having the fundamental right to vote!!! This place is operated with a skeleton crew, and it’s by guided tour only. Attaching a photo of your tour times - make sure to check the website before you come out, as they are doing major renovations right now.
This is such a cool museum to bring your friends and family to. Entry is free and there is so much to see. If you want to watch the IMAX 45 minute movie, it is about $10 a person for military and kids 4 and under are free. The movie is very cool and it explains a lot about the history of aircraft and looks at the Blue Angels training in detail. I highly recommend you check this museum out.
Pretty nice. It was a fun place for my friends & I. Lots of naval planes to see. Very clean & Very organized. We went to the Café and got food and it was pretty good. Also no wait at all!
Just be mindful that the prices in the gift shop are a little high. But, admission is free anyways so it’s not that bad. Overall it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, I really enjoyed it and I hope you do too.

I am a fan of the National Park Service. Unfortunately, there are tours available to see the house but not today. Please check the times before you go
This place is amazing they have so many cool cars you could spend a day in one room. They even had the car from the back to the gutter movies. A new car they got is a barbie car which is really cool.
This was quite an eye-opening experience. Plan to spend several hours here. The multi floor museum gives you perspectives you may never have thought of. It can also be quite an intense experience realizing what people have done to other people over the years. Because of my schedule I had to spend less than 3 hours at the museum. I got to see a lot in that time but I think it would have taken double that to get the full experience. The museum is within easy walking distance of several downtown hotels.
I don't know where to even start!! This museum exceeds all expectations!! If you have a veteran in your family or are one yourself it is a must see place!! Every aspect is well done! Follow a story of a soldier. Start by boarding a train... the Pacific theater was amazing, the airplanes on display are amazing, D-day was amazing... the list is endless! You will easily spend 3 hours here so be prepared!!
Do not miss this museum! But make sure you give yourself 5+ hours or better yet multiple days. This museum is huge and jam packed with information, very easy to get overwhelmed. This being a newer built museum it was very high tech and they put out all the stops to impress!
This historic home in this beautiful park has been decaying for years. Closes fall 2024 for overdue repairs. Has tons of historical significance related to the America Red Cross. There is wood rot on the outside, only the first floor can be used for the "tour" of an empty, moldy and dusty home in which all artifacts have been removed due to likely collapse, leak or whatever your imagination will allow. If you have allergies or asthma, enter at your own risk and with an N-95 mask on.

Fantastic, surprisingly amazing place to spend a few hours. If you have a chance to take a tour with the docent - you'll find this even more interesting. Incredible collection of trigger point and history making automobiles gives you a feel for the evolution of the entire automotive industry. So many interesting exhibits, informative signage for each, and really nice displays - like gas stations, streets scenes, and other great setting to complement the autos. The story of how this exhibit came to be is almost as interesting as the autos themselves. I learned so much from the docent, and I thought I was already kind of a car guy. I'll be back again, it was that good! Highly recommended, even if you're not a car guy - you'll learn why cars today work the way they do, and reasons why. Thanks for making this such a great museum!
Be prepared to spend a lot of time here, and it is worth every minute. The displays are often interactive, downloadable using a card they give you, and sometimes even overwhelming. Parking is something they do not really cover, it is downtown, we paid to park close, had to scan a QR code, pick the amount of hours we needed without knowing the rate, were then alerted that if you go over the car will be booted, 24.00 for 4 hours. After paying 40.00 per museum ticket, you make choices based on convenience. We ate at the restaurant/bar located in the American section and the menu offered amazing choices and the food was outstanding.
The National WWII Museum is a poignant journey through history. I was immersed in the courage and sacrifice of those who served. The exhibits are incredibly detailed and moving. A day I spent here was the best day of my trip so far.
Tip: Plan a full day to explore everything. The parking garage nearby is convenient. Fun fact: It started as a D-Day Museum in 2000 and has grown into a world-class institution honoring all aspects of WWII. An emotional and educational experience not to be missed. 🇺🇸🌟

Plan on spending most of the day. This museum is well worth taking the time to explore and learn about slavery past and present. This is a phage for deep thought and reflection. I can not recommend strongly enough that I think everyone would benefit from a visit to this site.
Truthfully speaking I wasn't quite satisfied with the experience and I reckon I could have found a better way to spend the $32.5 entry fee. There is a good selection of small arms but only six or seven aircraft and one piece of heavy armour on display and that's if you look hard enough. The guides aren't superbly knowledgeable and contrary to what they tell you at the entrance the whole thing can be seen in an hour or two unless you're a red blooded American or interested in American propaganda.
There are a lot of films and videos going on but not a lot of substance unfortunately. I did enjoy the excellent air conditioning and the southern hospitality though.

I can't believe how much there is to do here. You will easily spend the majority of your day here. Plan for several hours. There are 4 major buildings to go through, and each will take well over an hour to see. You probably could spend multiple days here if you are interested in the history. Very interactive and one of the highest quality museums I've been to.

We loved everything about this museum. The displays are amazing. The people who work there are friendly. There is even a movie theater inside to learn about automobiles. Love the history lesson of the automobile with all the visual aids ;^)
Oh my goodness!! This was the best museum I have experienced in a while, and I mean EXPERIENCED! This is definitely a day to remember, block out the entire day and experience this exhibit. You will thank me later! I will be back because I didn't block a chunk. They do offer a come back to finish ticket for $12 within 7 days of your original ticket. I had to do that but I still don't think I saw everything. This place is massive and chock full of memorabilia and information. I can not stress enough TAKE YOUR TIME and enjoy!
We had a great time visiting this place!! It has grown over the years to include way more exhibits of planes, carriers, NASA, etc. It's so interesting to see the history of the military. There are flying simulators you can pay to do as well, a movie you can watch, etc. There is a little Cafe to get drinks and snacks and a nice gift shop! It's a terrific place to take kids!!
Awesome place to visit. Be early the line gets ridiculous to get in. You need reservations or you're not getting in. The planetarium is cool. They have free and paid shows you just need to see the counter on the second floor to see which are which. Every exhibit is great fun for kids and adults alike. The item shop is a little expensive but what did you expect from in the middle of DC. In the basement, they have a food court, and continued item shop.
This is a great museum, BUT, the National Museum of US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio is much, much better. If you were impressed by this one you must visit the one in Ohio too.

You can see Neil Armstrong space suit, Lunar modules, various tech and memorabilia they used in space exploration - very cool to deep dive in history of that. I’d recommend reserving tickets in advance because I have seen families being turned down at the entrance without their free tickets. There is a huge souvenir shop on site. All in all it was good experience.

Only reason to dock a star was that quite a few exhibits were down when we went, which is unfortunate. Those that were working were fun and interesting. My son could have spent all day on the puzzles!

I feel they are reasonably priced since admission is free. There is restaurant and a snack bar. A little high priced for the quality in my opinion but it serves the purpose of giving you food for as much time as you could potentially spend here.

A must-see!! We will be back as some exhibits were closed for maintenance. There is a lot of powerful information and education in this museum, both past and present. It shows how far we have come, but also how far we still have to go. Very well put together and designed. Some exhibits are interactive. Videos. Lovely gift shop. Education center. Clean and clean restrooms. Price is good for priceless education. Make sure you go when you are really able to spend the time. There is a lot to view, read, and watch. This isn't a place to go in and rush through. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Amazing! I had no idea what to expect but this is a must see. It's free to get in and there a ton of planes to see with hands on stuff for the kids and great historical information all over. I could easily spend all day here reading information and seeing the planes. There is a simulator that my kids did. That cost money but great experience. 5 stars! Thanks for the experience.
This is an important museum with a lot to teach about the past and the present. The exhibits were well designed and often very moving. Sadly, some areas appear to have suffered a lot of water damage. When I went, significant sections were closed and the floors were buckled and taped off. I also noted a significant amount of sun damage to all of the content in one section of the museum. It looked like they didn't protect the documents from UV and then placed them next to a window.
Despite the, hopefully very temporary, damage, I would recommend this museum to anyone who wants to look seriously into the human condition and what people are capable of doing to each other and for each other.

If you happen to be in or passing through Cincinnati, Ohio this summer, make sure to visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Their 'Truth and Healing' exhibit features talented and thought-provoking artists, and I was particularly drawn to a dark candle-lit tent. Inside, you can sit in silence, select a random prompt from a bowl in the center, and experience moments of both heartbreak and healing. It's a truly transformative and moving experience worth exploring.
Really, really great museum!!! The price of admission is steep, but it is definitely worth it!!! If you are a history buff and want to see everything, then plan on the two days. Also, the 4D theater is definitely worth the $7. I am excited to finish my tour and hopefully come back some day!!! Wonderful museum!!!
Highly recommended! If you have an hour or 2 to spare, use it here! It's incredible! So many cars and in different areas from the 1900s to present. Every car has a story so if you want to read all of them, it might take you 3 to 4 hours. Very friendly and helpful staff and clean restrooms. Plenty of parking also.
Wow. Very fun place to visit. My favorite cars that I've seen is Toy Story Yo Truck, Tesla, Jurassic Park, Grease, and Back to the Future. So cool. You're in for a treat. Highly recommend this place.

I've to say that I was expecting more than what we saw. 30% of the stands were out of order. And for the rest, it was too high level. Probably also to fit very young audiences too. The students there were more talking to each others or on their phones than supporting visitors. For me it was not worth the price of the tickets. The toilet is clean.
This is our nation's only interactive museum dedicated to mathematics - and runs mostly on volunteers and donations in the heart of NYC. For that alone they get 5 stars. Great interactive exhibition tribute to math. Lots of activities, puzzles, experiences that all have some math element to them, like tricycles with square wheels, floor puzzles, fractal interactive video, a probability ball drop, etc. It's very much like a science center but for mathematics. Digital touchscreens with detailed explanations and mathematicians alongside most experiences. "Employees" (mostly local students) are super friendly and helpful. They have a small gift shop with math items. This place has a free time slot once a month at least where you can enjoy the place for free. Some of the activities are not working anymore or shut down. Some of the digital touchscreens are sluggish or unresponsive. It's also a little tight and should be expanded. Feels like it could use some TLC in general. I hope they are getting enough grant money from organizations like MSRI and the NSF. If not, those and similar organizations need to prop it up. Despite these issues, it was packed when we went and everyone seemed engrossed and interested. It's a fantastic, effective commercial for mathematics! I hope the next time I come to NYC, it's even bigger and better. Once improved, they should do more advertising and scheduling to bring more people in. Being in NYC, they have the ability to reach a wide demographic.
An incredible museum that deserves several hours of your time. The exhibits on the top floor are detailed, almost overwhelmingly so, but the tour guides help focus on highlights. The second floor, with the authentic holding pen for enslaved people, adds another level of emotional impact. The additional exhibits on modern slavery is devastating too. The interactive exhibits are all worth exploring. We didn't have time for the films, but the museum is something every American should experience.
the tour on first floor is only open on certain days at certain time. We missed it but we were able to learn about Clara's significance from the booklet available at this site
Omg... whether ur a car freak or not, great place 2 visit on a hott day or any day 4 that matter. Sum of the finest vehicles n memorabilia y'all could feast ur eyes on. Very impressed n the staff were top notch.
The employees were great and helped guide us through the museum. There are tons of interactive exhibits and I would be really amazing for kids. It was fun for us 25 year olds.

Unfortunately it is currently under renovation. And we didn't get inside. But from the outside it is a very beautiful building with beautiful red stone architecture.
A short ride from I-10 on the Navy Base, you have to clear security so make sure everyone has ID.
Plenty of free parking including for Handicap accessible Vehicles. The Museum is Free but please make a donation it's appreciated.

The museum of mathematics is a very nice place to spend an afternoon with your family.
There are activities for kids of every age from 4 to 16 years.
The only disappointing point was that many games/activities were broken or out of service, i think that once you pay a quite expensive ticket you expect to find a large selection of options and all the game working.

Visited just before they closed for renovation - more of a visitors center than anything. Some desirable exhibits but there is a lot more potential. I look forward to seeing how it improves when they re-open in 2028!
The Smithsonian Castle in Washington D.C. is a stunning Gothic Revival building with red sandstone walls, turrets, and towers. It sits on a hill and has beautiful gardens surrounding it. The sandstone walls are adorned with intricate carvings and decorative elements, making it a must-see for visitors to the area.
My kids love the National Museum of Mathematics. The entrance was off E 26th facing the park side. Their bathrooms were well maintained and the sink was in pentagon shape, which was kind of fun for everyone. There were a lot of activities for kids and adults. The gift shop at the front of the museum had a lot of fun toys for the kids to take a look at and to get for friends’ birthday parties. There is also a WholeFoods market nearby for lunch after a morning of fun activities in the museum and apply some of the math the kids learned. Highly recommend it for mathematical kids. :)

A small chapel like room and there is a historic carousel at the north entrance. Great Place to spend few hours for relaxing views in the heart of DC! Stunning architecture. Entry is free, street parking is likely impossible to get.
Engaging, enriching, and exciting to see all the mathematical concepts brought to life through interactive exhibits. If speedy tourism is your thing, then 1 hour should do but if you relax and read a few explanations as well as play with exhibits spending 2 hours or more is easy. No food inside but plenty of options nearby. Whole Foods a couple blocks north offers lots of tasty and healthy options in their prepared food section to eat inside at the second floor tables.
Incredible. A post and pictures doesn’t do this place justice. You have to go in person. There is SO much to learn from visiting this monumental place. I wish I had more time to go back. I would try to go from open to close to soak it all in and go back the next day to make sure you get everything from all the floors, exhibits and videos. You will learn things you didn’t learn about in school. Come educate yourself and soak in an amazing experience.

Smithsonian Castle Information Center is an excellent first stop to learn about the various museums and what to see. It is built of red sandstone and looks like a Medieval Revival style building. James Smithson’s crypt is in a small chapel like room. There is a historic carousel at the north entrance. There is also a beautiful garden.
A major force in American history, founder of the American Red Cross movement, her home is an island of tranquility in the heart of DC. Well worth a visit for tourists or locals. Nearby Glen Echo Park is also a gem.
