I’ve given these guys like three grand over the past few years and while they’re lovely people with some good mechanics, there’s always something a little wrong with the work. You pick up a bike that looks nice and ready to roll, oh the di2 isn’t working. You get your tubeless install grateful for same day, there’s shoddy valve work and your tire doesn’t hold air. It’s like they’re the sort of bike people who are like “aw cmon man if you say you ride as much as you do then you know sometimes you need the tire redone when you do a tubeless install we are happy to fix it for you” but it’s like, na I don’t want to come back out and have to smile and be kind when you didn’t do it right. Just not worth it sadly.

I really appreciate these guys and the level of service they provide. I've been living on the East side of town for a decade and their service has always been outstanding. Patrick and Ryan and the rest of the staff are dedicated to helping you find the right solution whether it's bikes, parts, service, or just shooting the breeze about Eastside life. I've visited many shops in town and these guys are a level above the rest in terms of interpersonal connection. Their shop work is second to none, always totally transparent in their communication on charges and what you need and what you don't. Their prices are competitive but you get more bang for your buck vs other shops with the human interaction. Love this shop.
Today was a donation for children. Thanks to all the contributors.
Just stopped by to check out some electric bicycles. I was pretty impressed checking them out and the person was very helpful.
Bikenetic is hands down the best local bike shop! I bought my bike here and have been bringing it in for service ever since. The free maintenance they offer for bikes purchased from them is a huge plus, but what really stands out is their incredibly helpful staff. They make both buying and servicing a bike completely worry-free. Highly recommend them!
We bought a bike and the experience was fantastic! Angela was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect bike that suited my needs. Angela took the time to understand what I was looking for and offered valuable insights on accessories as well. Her customer service was top-notch—friendly, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping me. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you’re looking for a bike or accessories, I highly recommend reaching out to Angela!

We've been going to Joyride Cycles ever since we moved to town about 4.5 yrs ago initially for service. From the moment I walked in I knew this was my place.
We finally picked up two Santa Cruz bikes back in July 24 and couldn't be happier with our purchase(s). Phil & Ryan were terrific and really worked with us. Their willingness to get the bike set up just right and offer 'options' really sets them apart.
If you're looking for a bike or service I highly recommend Joyride Cycle!

Excellent service! Not oversold on anything, all my questions answered professionally. Very knowledgeable team. Will definitely be returning for future purchases.
I had the absolute best experience at Trek! Tess was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and provided valuable info I wouldn’t have thought to ask. And my new bike rocks! Highly recommend!

We are obsessed with this store and grateful to have them right across the street from us in the Linen District. We don't have to direct guests to the mall area! It's a rare occasion we send a guest to Outdoor Exchange and they don't find what they're looking for!

Great experience getting my road bike tuned for a very reasonable price. Had a small break issue and they were very knowledgeable about the underlying cause. Will definitely be back.
Super friendly staff - Mitchell was great and helped us get going with our first e-bikes rental. We had a blast zipping around town, rode the greenbelt, and checking out the Boise and surrounding areas! The 4 hour rental was a perfect amount of time to go a ways. We did almost 30 miles and could've gone further if we didn't stop for some coffee and lunch. Would definitely recommend this company for bike rentals!
A shout-out to Bikenetic for its quick service on my bicycle. They replaced the punctured tire for reasonable cost and even put air in the other tire for free! I've always had a good experience coming here. Thanks!
Bikes were very nice and comfortable. They were fast and we barely had to put any effort into biking. The owners were nice and guided us on where to go. The prices are reasonable for an electric bike.
I have been a Trek customer since last year, and always received great and timely service at this store since then. The whole crew is awesome; very knowledgeable and friendly. I definitely recommend this store for your bike-related needs.
The Boise Bicycle Project is truly a special place. The incredible folks who work here will renew and reaffirm your faith in humanity. Joleen Evans and Anika Bennett are amazing human beings and I cannot thank them enough for helping me obtain a quality, affordable, refurbished bike yesterday. Y'all are awesome folks. This incredible organization is truly a treasure in the Treasure Valley.

Great selection of quality equipment & very friendly staff!
My beach cruiser is so much better now. Thank you to the manager, didn’t catch his name, who adjusted my handlebars so there’s no pressure on my wrists now. I’m so grateful. This is a very clean and professional bicycle shop, actually the best in entire Idaho, I was helped by Chris and Jacob as well. Very happy with the Customer Service . trek Bicycle Boise really values their customers. Also, they are open on Sundays! Really saved me since I use my bike every day.
I love this shop. It's a bit of a drive for me, but worth the time. Their service department is fantastic. The mechanics know what they are doing and take the time to talk to you about your problems, explain your options, and work with you to find a solution.

Edit: The new derailleur they installed fixed my shifting issues in time for BWR NC this weekend. Thanks, Bikenetic!
Rented 4 step through bikes and all worked great. Everybody we spoke to on the phone and in person was very helpful. Nice that they included bike locks and helmets. Rode, the entire Greenbelt, which was about 50 miles and the bike still had over 50% battery life left on them. Very impressed overall!

What an amazing experience. Jake Huff spent a couple of hours with us while I figured out which bike was going to work for me. He was extremely patient and never once made me feel like I was taking too much of his time. It was a joy working with him. I highly recommend this store!
Man just went in for help at the bicycle project. I’ve been having issues with my handlebars the guy I encountered at the door made me feel like I was greatly inconveniencing them. Every question I asked was followed with a negative response like probably not, not sure, don’t think so. I asked if I could please use a tool to loosen four bolts on the handlebar mount and try to do it myself. Was told no as they are closing soon. That was at 5:50pm well I’m standing twenty feet away looking at a very open bicycle project with multiple customers that have came in and out and the time is now 6:25pm door wide open. Thanks bicycle project I even conveyed to both the man and owner that I only had a clamp holding on my bar and this was dangerous would have been out of there way before now. Good looking out Boise bicycle project!!!! Hope you’re still asking for donations for all the help you DONT give to your community!!!!

Patrick and Ryan are rock stars in my book. We’ve bought a couple of bikes from them and in both cases they delivered above beyond expectations.
My wife stops by for help quite often and they ALWAYS offer help and support.
I just bought a new bike from them and they were most patient with me as I flipped and flopped on what I wanted. Not a high end bike but they treated me like it was. You guys are the best! Love the treatment we get even when you’re so busy you can’t see the light of day. THANKS!!!!
I had my wife's bike assembled here a little over a week ago. Not only did they have the best prices, but they were able to have it ready the very next day.
A little over a week flies by, and the bike starts making a weird noise, and the chain fell off while my wife was biking back from work. I brought it in the next day, expecting to have to leave it and come back, but John was there to save the day. He had explained what went wrong (manufacturing problem) and had it up and running in about 10 minutes time, free of charge. The customer service I received felt like I've been shopping at the store for years. Thank you again, John!

They completly stole money from me. I gave them my wheels and tires to make the tubeless that were already taped to be tubeless. They wouldn't give me a discount for the already taped wheels because they said they will tape over it anyway. Then I get them back and the tires are off center. Both wheels were leaking air slowly. So I just decided to redo it myself. After taking the tire off, they didn't even tape the wheel like they said and there was no tubeless glue! 😡 completely scammed me. Guess ill never get my $65 back. Never going here again.

My dog chewed up my new biking shoes the night before I was going to do a ride with a friend. I needed a replacement BOA for my shoes that I could not find anywhere in town, and one of the guys from the shop, went home, took the dials off his own shoes and brought them back to the shop so I could ride. Absolutely over the top customer service. Can not recommend this shop enough.
Such a cool organization! I got two bikes for my kids. The people in there were so helpful and friendly! The sliding pay scale is heaven sent for those on a tight budget :)
I was so nervous about getting an electric mountain bike and I researched like crazy and finally went down to Synergy Cycles. Matt and associate was so helpful, knowledgeable, and nice. They listened to me and answered all my questions. I ended up getting a Bulls E-Mountain Bike and will go back when the weather permits and getting some liners or go tubeless.
I would strongly reccommend this local small business if you need an E-Bike.
We as a society need to see more businesses like Synergy Cycles with a very knowledgeable staff that listens, answers questions honestly and are very nice.
Thank you :)
Ryan and his staff have been very helpful in upgrading the tires and tubes on my recumbent trike. I
visit Boise often but live in San Diego. Ryan provided excellent communication from afar and enabled me to make a same-day appointment to upgrade all three tires. I left for lunch and they did the work lickety-split. Super impressed and appreciative of great service. 10 Star Shop!

Huge shoutout to pierce at the Hyde location for the help when I had some issue on my sram brakes. Had me come in without even knowing what’s going on, did some problem solving and helped me out on the spot, same day. Standup dude, always an awesome shop to support and helped me get back on the trails while fall riding is at an all time high.
We love Pedego Boise! We were able to rent from them a few weeks ago, loved it so much we decided to also buy! The folks working there are super helpful and very knowledgeable about their bikes. We had such a great time. When we decided to buy we worked with Mitchell who was really great and helped us decide what to get, then made sure everything was in order for us. When we needed some adjustments Kevin got us right in and was super helpful getting things adjusted. Would definitely recommend whether you're just going to rent for a day or buy forever!
Our 11 year old son purchased a Talaria Sting R bike with his own money through these guys. He handled the whole transaction (as a lesson) and asked many questions. They were very patient with him, and answered all of his questions, and they treated him as just another customer. They went above and beyond and included some upgrades. We were more than pleased with their customer service and mechanics. Thank you!!!!
I recently purchased a new gravel bike from Ryan at Eastside. This was my first bike in this category and the team at this shop was incredibly helpful in getting me into the right bike with the right customizations. Honestly, one of the best customer service experiences I've had in years. Outstanding!
Had my bike Tuned Up and "hand washed" since I have not used it for a couple of years from having cancer and the pandemic. I was pretty excited to get it home that I wasnt able to thoroughly examine it while I was at the shop (my mistake). Called them right away as soon as I got home, only to find out that hand wash on their package (as explained to me by an associate over the phone) just means them wiping it with a damp soapy cloth. Bike was not clean and had a significant amount of dirt and mud still on the under frame. Really disappointed as I was excited to use their services based on the ratings online. Guy kept on saying they only miss a few areas when they clean bikes. I told them, area I am referring to is not just a small oversight
I suggested, they may need to revisit the hand wash description on the package then as it sounds misleading or add that hand wash means exactly what he just described. Only resolution provided is for me to return the bike to them so that they can clean it again. I told them, I dont have the means of going there back and forth as I had to just ask a friend to help me pick up the bike in the first place. And with my medical condition,
I don't have the leisure of doing so. Unfortunately, I may be the one to break the 4-5 star rating people have been giving the shop. Bad experience on my end. I'm glad it works out for other people but sadly did not for me.
Just purchased a fantastic bike for our daughter from BBP. They did a great job rebuilding this bicycle. Love the BBP!
Visiting Idaho from Arizona. I had never tried an electric bike so we rented 5 bikes to ride on the Greenbelt. These bikes were awesome. Had a blast. Did the four hour rental so we had time to stop for lunch along the way. The staff at Synergy were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop as it is close the Greenbelt so there’s no need to transport the bikes. Just get on and go a couple blocks to the Greenbelt entrance.
Roxy Is Amazing! Thanking everyone for all they do for the community! Many adventures on our bikes, all because of BBP🤘😎🤘

Thanks again Roxy....another bike fixed so we can continue our adventures!!!🤘😎🤘
The Trek store is amazing. John and the staff are super knowledgeable, yet able to meet each customer where they are at. I just worked with the store to help my 75 year old mother in law purchase a new road e bike. They bent over backwards to ensure she had a perfect experience including swapping out her stem and fitting the bike. It is great to have a shop I can send friends to with confidence.

great customer service and attitude compared to shops in the area where i’ve felt more like a problem than a customer. i’ve gone in a couple times with issues and have been nothing but happy walking out. they are awesome about listening to any bike issues you are having and being able to diagnose quickly to get you back on the trails. if you have a santa cruz, don’t go anywhere else in the valley!
Great service and the bikes are awesome. Trailers for kids and variety of sizes for different adults. Bike riders must be 13 years and older
The shop helped me out with a special order for a new bike frame, a Surly Krampus in the new green color. They also built the wheelset for my finished bike. The team there are friendly and helpful. This shop has a special feeling about it that reminds me of a place I used to go-to when I still lived on Oahu, Hawai'i.
Best electric bike place ever! They have a huge variety of electric bikes. Staff is super knowledgeable. Shout out to Matt on helping me find a bike that worked well & something I felt comfortable riding. Low pressure on buying, which I appreciated. Rental pricing is really great, I didn’t feel like I was being priced gouged. They have some electric scooters too. Definitely check this place out, highly recommended!
Kevin is a very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly Pedego guru. He was very patience and went out of his way to show us several bikes and accessories. Mitchell the mechanic even let is ride his personal bike which was decked out with all types of extras.
Thanks guys!

Great shop, picked up a new bike and Wyatt was very knowledgeable and helped me pick out my ride. Since the purchase the shop and Wyatt have been great with any questions I have, showing me how to tweak the bike and source any products I want/need. Definitely check them out!

Update: when I purchased this bike I told Wyatt we would be ultimately be going to Moab to shred. Well the bike definitely didn’t disappoint on the slick rock trail! Shout to Wyatt and joyride, we finally made it!

NICE PEOPLE GREAT BIKES (ALL KINDS) AT RESONABLE PRICES! IF YOU WANT TO DO THE TOWN COME
HERE FOR WHEELS AND THEY WILL
GIVE YOU A NICE SMOOTH EVEN RIDE.
Awesome local business in the best location. (go left at the light to park around back if you miss the entrance). 3 easy access points to Boise greenbelt, BSU, and downtown. Super reasonable pricing so no need to travel or gamble on the web. Wide range of bikes with knowledgeable mechanic on duty.
Our first electric bike experience exceeded our expectations. Kevin did an excellent job explaining how the bike functions and what to expect.

We particularly enjoyed the “power boost” feature when you just needed a little ‘assistance’ climbing a small hill:)

We biked on the Greenbelt (16.5 miles) and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery. We stopped for lunch during our four hour journey and used bike locks provided. Renting is a great way to determine whether you want to make the investment into buying one of these bikes.

The people here are really great: always friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Fair prices, great ski selection, and their consignment program is top notch.
Hi There, my Boyfriend and I rentals two e-bikes to try them out this past week for 2 hours, and rode to Lucky Peak dam. Upon renting from this place, I saw the owner put air in the bike I ride. On the ride back, we had to air up that bike twice, and luckily there were air stations on the green belt to do so. The other bike ran out of power after an 1.5 hrs coming back, and we had to tow that bike back, since e- bikes weight 40 pounds, and I weight 109. Upon returning them, the owner didn't even apologize for our situation, he made us feel like it was our fault. We will not be renting or buying from this place.
I haven’t written many reviews lately but this shop definitely deserves to be notice.

Brian has helped me out so much in the past week I could kiss the guy if my wife wouldn’t beat me from jealousy. First he tuned parts of the bike in minutes when I suffered trying to fix it for hours, then I brought in a bike trainer and he helped me set that up. All of this without any hesitation and world class customer service.

I usually just go to the big box stores like REI and Spokes but never again. This shop was amazingly fair with their pricing and exceptionally helpful with all my crazy needs.

My bike works perfectly now and so does the trainer. Thank goodness I took it to them. Everyone at the shop deserves recognition for being wonderfully helpful.

Thank you so much!!!

Update: a couple years later and im still over the moon with this organization! There are some amazing peole here who are helpful and kind. I couldn't imagine our community without them 💗

a great experience, both times! My son got his bike through the Boise bike project back in 2019. When he was gifted the bike the staff did an amazing job and also educated the children about bike safety and sharing the road or path. He has never forget this experience and takes his bike safety very seriously! He got a flat tire this summer and was so upset (mainly because I was not able to fix it as I have no real knowledge about bikes 🤷🏽‍♀️) I contacted Boise Bike Project and Emily offered us 2 different options in helping us fix the tires. When we arrived the staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating to me with two small children. We were in and out of there in under 20mins and my son was beyond excited to see the building and their cool setup. We are grateful to have such a great community who gives back and helps where they can.
We had an amazing time riding for 4 hrs through the greenbelt with the e-bikes of synergy cycles.
From the start was easy to communicate with Matt.
He accommodated our group without difficulties, gave us flexibility with our time and set ahead the bikes based on our age, gender and height.
The bikes are gorgeous, new in pristine condition.
We got all the information pertinent on how to manage our batteries and gave us safety tips.
We loved those bikes, the service and the setting.
We will be back !
Thank you.
First time doing an Electric Hybrid 7 speed bike. It was such an awesome experience for all three of us. We spent just under 2 hours and in that time got to bike all the way to the Veterans Memorial Park and back down the other side of the Greenbelt Tail to Barber Park. Once we got back to the area around Pedego one of us dropped off and the other two went back to the Surf Park past Quinn's Pond and then back. We stopped at several places to observe nature, animals, plants and the views. Boise is so lucky to have a protected bike-walk-jogging trail that hugs the river in their downtown area. We loved the experience.

Called ahead to verify hours of service, they took my call on the first ring and immediately answered my question. Went in after that to purchase chain lube, received prompt and friendly service. The bike chain was lubed right away and I was on my way in under five minutes! In their favor, they already had better hours than my regular shop but the service also surpassed what I'm accustomed to! I will definitely be returning to them for all my purchases and repairs from now on!
The customer service was absolutely impeccable! I went in during the midst of the Covid pandemic. They had the store appropriately managed through my whole walk through. They were able to answer all my questions and helped me pick out my beautiful new Trek bike! They taught me how to remove and re attach my front wheel and spent as much time with me as I needed to feel locked and loaded with all the knowledge I needed.
I am seriously thrilled with my experience and couldn’t have walked away happier!

Premier shop that services absolutely anything. Hands down some of the best mechanics I have known both personally and professionally. 14 states, god knows how many trails and countless mechanical issues I just don’t tackle myself. This is the best treatment and service I have seen. Knowledgeable and all riders by passion. As long as I live in Boise it’s the only shop I will work with. Well done guys! Quite the product you have going!

CAUTION: Only sell your gear here if you want pennies on the dollar! They sold a kyack I had previously bought, FROM THEM, at $250. Two months later I received a check for $45. I will never sell gear with them again. Otherwise the selection of gear is awesome and the employees are super helpful and friendly!
Thank you so much for squeezing me in on a busy Sunday! It is so nice to be back in the saddle. We made the 2 1/2 hour trip home and still had enough daylight to squeeze in a 15 mile, dusk to darkness ride on the Weiser trail. Your staff was excellent and my bike performs like new! Having it serviced was worth every penny!

So far I've been very satisfied with outdoor exchange! I've shopped here as well as have some items on consignment. Their prices are very reasonable and they seem to pick quality items to put on consignment! As for the consigning aspect, the policies seem fair as long as you keep track of your own items, including the ones that have sold. I recommend checking in on your items once a week until your contract is up, and you'll be in good shape!

I wouldn't trust these folks with cruiser a bike. We asked them to fix a flat on my wife's cruiser because we were in the middle of moving and all our stuff was packed away.

First attempt led to a bulging tire. She took it back, they admitted their error, and fixed it. Two days (and a short ride to coffee) later the tire had popped while stored in our garage. They fixed but charged her full price because they "didn't know how my wife had been riding" and a number of other excuses (all blaming her).

When I heard about this, I was shocked that an LBS would provide such poor service. I emailed the shop via their website hoping it was an innocent mistake by a frontline employee, and something they'd make right. Now, several weeks later I have heard nothing back, so I feel it is my duty to let people know how they do business.

It's a bummer because we'd hoped we had found our new LBS.

Edit: While it's great to have a response from the owner, it's odd to be asked questions in a public review response instead of via the email I sent.

Quick response to his(?) questions:

a) We were charged twice, not once, to fix the flat.

b) I wasn't "bad-mouthing," just sharing my experience. Others can decide if the experience was "bad." Wife discussed the issue in-store and I emailed, but never heard back... so the owner's response was productive to that end.

c) Definitely don't think the repair issue was intentional. Never meant to insinuate that. I still have not received a response to my email, though. It sucks to voice a frustration and be ignored.

Anyway, I wish these guys continued success. They're enthusiastic and friendly. I love local small business. But I won't be guilted into silence when, even after being made aware of a customer service issue, the response is to ignore and deflect.

The Outdoor Exchange is a staple for our family! We come several times a year to stock up on gear for the whole family. The prices are high but worth it for high quality name brand gear that is usually just as good as new. And their clearance racks are awesome for cheap deals as well. This is my favorite place to buy hiking boots and jackets for my boys, as well as great gear for myself. The people that work there are so patient and awesome and have always helped me find the perfect thing, even though I’m hard to fit. The girl working even helped me find snow pants that are flattering! That earned my loyalty!!
Great selection and great gear!! I dropped off my items for sale and I got over $300!!!! I was super stoked. I cleaned out my gear closet and took items for sale and also used the gear repair service for a torn jacket. I used part of my money to buy a pair of skis I found in the shop. Everything was super easy and convenient. HIGHLY recommend for all you other gear heads that have tons of items just sitting in the closet or are looking for that next piece of gear.
