Constitution Gardens

Constitution Gardens is the perfect place to walk, bike, jog and enjoy the peaceful nature of the area. It gives visitors a nice break from the noise and stress of city life.

Probably the most scenic view of the Washington Monument! Also, this area is off the beaten path (reflecting pool) so it offers a more peaceful National Mall experience. Date idea: bring a blanket and a picnic and sit under one of the willows by the water! Such a fun time!

We walked past these gardens on our way up the Constitution Avenue towards the Lincoln Memorial. It's quite a peaceful area with enough park benches to sit down on and watch the world go by. Perhaps annoying is the number of people on bikes, electric scooters and Segways who come through this way with disregard to those of us on foot. Oh well.

There are a lot of great locations on the National Mall for wedding and engagement portraits, but Constitution Gardens might well be the best one. It gives you the main thing you want when you do a photoshoot on the Mall -- glorious views of DC's most famous landmarks. From the island in the middle of Constitution Gardens' pond, you can see the Washington Monument rising in the background nearby. At the same time, this location gives you a nature-y vibe that you don't get elsewhere. The aforementioned island has a really lovely willow tree that gives a bit of shade and adds a splash of color to the portraits. There's also a few cherry blossom trees not far from the pond, so you have the option of including those in your photos in the spring. Overall a great spot for wedding and engagement pictures!

Please note that because the National Park Service administers this land, permits are required for all commercial photoshoots.

It is a nice garden to walk around or rest on a grass. You can see the Washington Monument from here. Also, it is right next to the Lincoln Memorial. There is a pond that living creatures live.

I like the view of Washington Monument pictures from this place more than in front of the Reflecting pool.

A decent spot on the national mall to sit on a bench in the shade. Nice lake. Restroom present.

A peaceful oasis of nature in the middle of the National Mall. The lake has ducks that nest there, lots of bluegill and minnow fish, frogs, loons, and sometimes blue herons. The signers island in the middle has a memorial with a large copy of the signature and occupation of every signer of the declaration of independence. A nice place for a walk.
