This is a great place to let your dog open up and run. Astroturf keeps the dust to a minimum. Shady.

I usually wait until its close to closing time to go here. I have big dogs and since all the dogs play in one area, we do better when no other dogs are there or 1/2 others. People leave water jugs, but it's best to bring your own water. Sometimes those jugs are empty. There are poop bags, but not all of the humans pick up after their dogs. There is no grass here, just artificial turf and gravel. The artificial turf is on a hill. My dogs like and prefer grass. There are chairs to sit in while the pooches play.

There are a lot of shade and sitting area here. It's quite peaceful. The park is big enough for dogs to run around.

My dog Scout is a regular. The park is smaller than nearby Ellsworth (Silver Spring), but it's also a little more chill. We love the people and the dogs here, which is what keeps us coming back.

It's a beautiful setting, nestled in a neighborhood, at the far end of a dead end street, surrounded by woods with the occasional deer sightings. Bring your own water (as the city/county hasn't run plumbing/water lines out here since it's tucked back in the woods, and know that there are no lights, so when the sun goes down it gets really dark, really fast.

Takoma dog park has a smallish flat area with a few benches and chairs, but also a very large, steep AstroTurf hill. It's excellent for throwing balls up that will automatically roll back down, but probably a bit too steep for older residents to safely navigate if their dogs go potty at the top of the hill. Definitely if it's wet or icy out. But the dogs love it, so that's good. The park lacks running water so residents bring jugs. Definitely worth a trip if you're close, but the Silver Spring dog park is better and generally has more dogs at a given time.

The turf-covered hill makes up about half of the dog park which gives the dogs a good workout. It's also nestled in the midst of dense trees which are, in turn, situated between two schools, tennis courts, basketball courts, a skateboard park, soccer fields, covered picnic areas, and a couple of playgrounds - something for everyone. Since there's no running water at the dog park, bring a bottle of water for your dog (and to share, of course). There is a drinking fountain at the playground across the parking lot. Friendly people who are always looking out for each other and their dogs. And this being Takoma Park, be prepared to discuss politics, current affairs...or dogs.

Great dog park! Seems pretty well maintained and people pick up after themselves which is a plus! Only thing that would make it better would be a water fountain for the dogs. It is on the smaller side but everyone has been friendly. No separate space for small dogs though, if you're looking for that.
