Great place to for a walk or bike along the old Erie Canal. Also a musium and picnic area. Great place to show the history of the great state of New York.

I live near the canal, so I use it often. It's an incredible resource for anyone that enjoys walking, running or biking. It's very peaceful, especially in the west. It's not unusual to see animals like deer, turtles , and fish, and many birds. Simms store and the reconstructed aqueduct are wonderful for exploring the history of the canal as well.

The waters are filled with algae and the trails need maintenance. Great place to walk or run but with the rise in temperatures and the waters not being cleaned, there are a lot of bugs.

This is a great historical treasure throughout Onondaga County, spreading its veins to nearby areas. Local history, great fun, hiking, biking, grilling, shelter. Family and individual fun. Wildlife galore, all in its habitat. A must for nature and canal buffs.

The Erie Canal is a beautiful thing to experience. What the City of Camillus has done to it is not so nice. Very congested small parking areas that you have to walk through to continue on, with constantly moving traffic. The wooded trail on the other side just ends at the Aqueduct, but when I called the Parks Dept. some girl stated she has walked across the cement pilings to the other side, but I have a hard time imagining that. Plus, they took down the Historic bridge that was there, which would have been a great thing to restore as a footbridge , like they did in on the Dewitt Towpath. Plus the website states there are 10 miles of wooded trails, but I couldn't find any sign or access to these, just a short "Nature Trail" behind the "Sims Store", which isn't a store at all, but a museum!!! What the Heck!!! Very disappointed in all.
