Formally gold mining town, Hill End offers alot of historical information about the mining practices in the late 1800''s. Set in a quiet peaceful location. The surroundings area offers hiking trails, scenic views and information about each area as well as alot of historical machinery from times past. You can also find a guided tour of one of the mines, that I recommend you phone and book in advance to find out the availability.
There is food and accommodation available as well as camping.

Ok, truly there is not much here except a few information signs and left over machinery so don't get too excited. What was once a bustling town is now red dust.

And that's the beauty of it.

Such amazing Australian scenery and landscape. It feels like you're a million miles away, captured by a time long gone.

There are also flushing toilets 😊

We had a delicious cider at the pub down the road, and loved chatting to the locals. Check it out.

There also a campground and amazing walks if you want to get away from it all.

The summer months (Dec - Mar) are often unbearably hot here with temperatures soring to 40 degrees plus. I recommend going in Spring or Autumn.

Very interesting place, a bit out of the way, but that adds to its charm. Worth the trip!

Spent 4 nights at the Lodge, the town is spectacular during autumn with the colours of the fall. Rug up in autumn & winter! This place is a photographer's paradise!

Lovely heritage town with good pub. Museum has a good selection of old equipment to look at even if the building isn't open. Toilets and picnic facilities available

Very beautiful town, full of history. But a little word of warning, if you plan to visit during autumn or winter be prepared to rug up, because it gets really really cold. The day we were there it was 2 degrees C until well after 12pm 🙂🙂
