Erlebenswert.

The Phrase 2 Wharf development has continued over the past year. Captain White Fish Market has been forced to depart, but Jessie Taylor Fish Markets continues its service to the area. The additional development is on pace to add a hotel, museum and other retail businesses. Parking upgrades, several timed parking spaces and a parking garage, to mention a few of the changes to this location over a few years.

Said to be the oldest continuously run Fish Market on the east coast. It’s actually fairly small, but the history of the place seems to be the main appeal. Seafood is fresh but pricey, with some booths selling steamed/cooked products (crabs, all kinds of fish, seafood soups and chowders, frying stations, etc). There is a strong Old Bay and fishy smell in the air. If you aren’t looking to buy a ton, you can grab a few fresh oysters/mussels for under $10 right there. You can easily walk down here from the Mall or the Smithsonian Station, as this end is closer to the mall than the Waterfront Station.
