Value for money and a good view also the best is visiting the museum next to it

Cons:
A bit hard time reading menu, but that’s ok as you can translate quickly
Service is slow.

Terrible. Asked and they said they'd be open until 18:00. Some friends came 15 minutes before I arrived. I got there at 17:30 and they said I couldn't have any hot drinks because they were already cleaning the coffee machine. No apologies, nothing. Though you shouldn't be surprised if you've been around these bands.

The place was very beautiful, the design and atmosphere were wonderful wouldn't it be for the Café staff. They were very unfriendly, not polite and overall not professional.
I work in a Café myself and can understand that sometimes things are stressful but I am still buff by the overall unprofessional behavior of the staff.
Even spilled orange juice and didn't apologize. Where I come from this is not acceptable

The restaurant looks very nice, and it's conveniently located in the museum.

The food is alright, portions are quite small. No vegan option but a couple of vegetarian ones.

De Tropen is a perfect spot for a coffee(meeting) in the morning, a delicious lunch or dinner. The interior is impressive and the terrace has a great view over the Oosterpark. It's very easy to access through station Muiderpoort if you are from out of town.

Great quality but limited choices for coeliacs.

Just tucking into a very tasty sweet potato salad as I type...

I’ve popped in for lunch and was given an allergens menu but it didn’t match what was actually available on the menu and the gluten free choices for lunch were very limited. So I’d be careful if you have allergies; the wait staff are helpful but had to check what was possible.

In their defence the sandwiches can be made with gluten free bread but I’ve never been a fan of GF bread and suspect most coeliacs aren’t either!

Great location as part of the Tropical Centre and Tropenmuseum. Nice friendly atmosphere and helpful wait staff. Limited choices for me hence the three stars.

A restaurant worthy of it's own entrance at Tropenmuseum with well designed interior and outdoor seating. Menu offers enough choices to calm every tummy grumble, whether a 4-year old daughter or tired parent.
