The Carpenters Arms

A real disappointment. Although we still love the pies, the service last night was terrible. Thankfully they are fully prepared for allergens, but it seemed to complicate matters somewhat. This resulted in us cancelling a shared starter, no problem, but then my partner's food arrived and I was left waiting for another 10 minutes with no apology or explanation. We both, eventually, enjoyed the food, but the evening was already ruined by then. It's great that allergens are checked, but someone with a shellfish allergy shouldn't have to worry about eating duck because of cross contamination. Maybe invest in a separate fryer?
I'm sure they don't really care about our poor experience, or that we've changed our minds about booking for Sunday lunch. Shame the service let down the enjoyment of the food and our evening.

Nice pub next to Windsor castle with historic interior and a rumoured secret tunnel into the castle. Good beer selection.

Nice interesting old pub. Lots of history. Shame the passageway (railed off) that was possibly once access to the castle isn't made more of. See photos. It looks like it could be something that would draw people in.

Showed rugby. Unfortunately had a bad smell all over the pub. Friendly staff. Dessert menu has very poor choice.

Great location and amazing staff. The food was okay, but it is all based on taste, so you may like it more than I did.

We enjoyed a couple of pints and dinner after a visit to the castle. Very pleasant pub with a lot of character. We tried the sausage & mash and the ocean fish plate; both were delicious. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would love to return!

Great, no fuss, character-full pub with an enticing menu and high quality food. I've dined there on Christmas day (when it was superb) and again tonight when I went for the large portion of fish'n'chips. It really hit the spot and my father-in-law thought his cheeseburger was one of the best he has ever had! Good selection of hand-pulled ales and other drinks. The serving staff were great. We'll be back.
