This gate was built in order to enter Mashakh Square during the time of Feth Ali Shah Qajar and it was called "Mashakh Square Gate". Mashakh Square was one of the largest military squares in Tehran and was under the control of the Shahneshahi army. After the construction of this gate, it was planned to establish the first public garden of the capital called "Meli Garden" in the inner lands of Masakh Square, and after that the name of this gate was changed to "Sardar Bagh Meli". The national garden did not last more than a few years; However, with the construction of many buildings such as the National Library, the Museum of Ancient Iran and the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this headland is called "Meli Garden Headland". Currently, there is nothing left of Masakh square and only its main building remains.

Hello, if you are on your way to Imam Khomeini street in Tehran, don't forget that Sardarbagh National Garden really has its own beauty. The surroundings of the National Garden are very beautiful, and there is a library called Malik in the garden, which is full of good and valuable books.
The construction of this building goes back to the Qajar period and it is considered one of the most important historical monuments of Tehran.

A beautiful gate leading onto a nice street filled with government buildings.
The gate is worth looking at in its own right, however it leads on to a great street with a number of buildings modelled on ancient Persian architecture.

Beautiful old lady standing there long time but still charming and cheerful.

It stands between super crowded streets in tehran city center and stilly, restful old buildings area with his heavy gates. It was turbulent and noisy field for years with name of “Meidan-e Mashq” which it means open shooting range field.

Worth to give a time and visit this area.

Be careful that many ministers buildings there and sometimes this area is closed and forbidden to foto-shoot🤷🏼‍♂️
