Venetian Pools Community Association

1945- 1967 lived and grew up on Chelsea Drive off Coventry Road and walked to and swam at Venetian Pools every day in the summer. The Bakers owned the pool then. It had a baby pool, a diving pool, a medium size kids pool and the racing pool. On Saturday nights the Decatur teens would gather at the “canteen” and dance to songs on the jukebox! It was in the 50’s and cost 25 cents to get in {expensive) and you had to be a “member”. It was for “white, gentiles” only. Esther Williams, who was a movie star, Olympic swimmer, and had swam the English Channel made an appearance there one time. Diving competitions were also held there too. I feel so fortunate to have grown up walking distance from Venetian.

Great place !!! Water is nice! Clean environment..and lots of fun for the kids!!

It's worth the incredibly long wait. The main pool is large and well maintained. The pool allows you to bring your own beverages and there are four Weber grills onsite with grill tools. So it's a great place to dine or entertain while your kids play. Currently, the wait is about 10 years, so get on the waiting list before having children, or they'll be too old to enjoy it by the time you're admitted.

Met a really nice lady that was a member of the board. She explained its amazing history etc. -- great place!

Great community pool, I mean they sell King of Pops for goodness sake!

It IS worth the 5 - 7 year wait! Get on the waitlist BEFORE your kids are born so they'll be in by the time they are 6 for swimteam. This is a neighborhood pool that is BYO everything but does have a snackbar and grills. You can also have food delivered. Love my summers at Venetian.
