As a newly converted muslin 11/5 I've been scouring the city for sit in eateries and by George I have found one ... RUMI.
FIRST TIME TODAY,nice atmosphere. Quick, fast friendly service. Shout outs to IKAN.... I know it said 100% halal but I read salami and frea***d out but he assured my worries, very nice and respectful will definitely visit again with friends.

Enjoyed the Red Lentil soup, which had a delightful hint of lemon, paired with the Turkish Bread and its four different spreads (Hummus, Babaganoch, Spicy Vegetable, and Jajik). The unsweetened tea was also quite good. The overall service was satisfactory, and the ambiance made it an appealing stop for lunch. However, I found that the vegetarian options (Kebab Platter and Casserole) could use some improvement in terms of taste and texture.

This place is usually not busy but there is a reason.

Food is decent, not bad not good. I had lentil soup and Pide. Don’t recommend lentil soup, it is better than any other non-Mediterranean cuisine but not good for Mediterranean ones. Pide was 6/10 we had Kusbasi/Kasar.

Service was terrible during our last visit. They didn’t even offer tap water, we have ordered soup server left it in the middle of the table. For me the biggest strike was tea ☕️.
If you are marketing yourself as Turkish Grill, act like one. Serving lentil soup and lahmacun won’t make you one. Traditionally, in Turkish cuisine, hot black tea is offered at the end of the meal free of charge and it comes in a special glass. Thin belly Turkish tea glass. They not only charge you for the tea $2 per glass, tea was terrible and came in a water glass as in the picture.

We are staying in Jersey City and checked Google Maps about surrounding restaurants for dinner. Rumi's caught our eye because we love Turkish cuisine.
We walked the half mile and sat down in a nice and cozy restaurant. Bring your flashlight if you are of age like us, it's a little dark in there.🙃
We started with an order of Sigara Borek. The rolls were fresh, piping hot and very tasty.
I had the Lamb Gyro as my meal and my wife had the Chicken Iskender.
The lamb gyro came with a side of bulgur, rice, two pieces of cold broccoli, a grilled spicy pepper and half a grilled tomato. I love grilled tomatoes and this one tasted very good. The rice and the bulgur were very tasty and completed the gyro perfectly. The pepper was too spicy for me and the cold broccoli was completely out of place. I would've rather had red and white cabbage salad instead of the broccoli. One tip if you are ordering this meal, definitely get a side of the yogurt sauce, otherwise the dish is too dry. With the sauce added, it was excellent.
The chicken iskender was delicious and perfect just the way it came out. Flavorful and fresh, tasted just like in Turkey. Fresh bread was served with the meals.
Dessert was an order of Kunefe, enough for two people, and it was SO delicious. The combination of sweet, crunchy, cheesy melt in your mouth goodness is just amazing.
Overall we loved Rumi's and would definitely come back.

Nice place, spacious seating, polite staff, good food options. Got a falafel plate, good quantity for $12 but taste was okay.
For mains got the Combo Platter, that was great. Both the chciken and lamp were perfectly cooked and juicy. Worth the money.

Solid food, decent prices, quick service. I got the veggie omelette - I’m usually picky about how my eggs are cooked, but this one was cooked to perfection. Turkish coffee was great too!

Ate here with my family for lunch and had the best experience. Very friendly waitress who gave us great recommendations for appetizers, lunch, and dessert. The food was delicious and the portions were so big that we all had leftovers to take home to go! And the dessert was very tasty and the perfect balance after a large meal. Will definitely be back again!
