Beautiful inside and out, unusually bright colours for the outside walls, it stands out against the blue sky and the greenery. Very crowded, despite us being there early and having booked the tickets in advance. The only place where they were kind of obsessed with checking our tickets, did that at least 5 times. But that’s a minor, as the building was beautiful, with intricate details and decorations, and the views are fabulous. And the park is an amazing place for a nice walk, tranquil and relaxing

The castle is beautiful, but unfortunately was raining and was extremely foggy. We weren’t unable to see the beauty of the outside of the castle. The line was extremely long, highly recommended to buy tickets in advance and get to the place on time.

If you only have time for one palace in Sintra, go to Pena Palace. Getting up the hill from Sintra town has a lot of traffic, so give yourself an extra 30 minutes before your time slot. After you arrive at the gate, you have to walk from the park entrance up to the top of the hill (if you take the stairs, this takes seven minutes). There's a bus that goes from the gate to the top that's a separate ticket for 3 euro. At the top, you have to wait in line. This is very confusing. It took me around 20 minutes to go through. Once you're in the castle, you're in a line following everyone else through each room. It's beautiful and unique if you have the patience for it. It's very well preserved and continuously maintained. Bring a sweater, you're at cloud level. Took about one hour once inside, audio for not necessary.

Beautiful Palace. If you plan on visiting, earlier is definitely better. The walk through the palace is guided and takes you through rooms one by one. It is easy to get stuck behind one of the tours while they discuss a room, the later you go, the heavier the traffic.

While there, the places is majestic and beautiful. The views are spectacular, and the freedom you can walk the walls with at the completion of the tour is staggering. This venue is a must visit!

A really beautiful Palace in Sintra Portugal,.
Interesting and unique architecture located on the top of the hill and surrounding with a lot of gardens. Of course during the high season the place is crowded with a lot of people because of it, I highly recommend buying the tickets in advance online, If you're a photographer it will be really hard to take up a good picture of the Palace because lots of people, but still recommend it to go there nearly sunset.
Also if you are going to get tickets directly to the box office do not forget to buy tickets for the shuttle bus which is going from the bottom to the Palace on the top. It will save your energy to walk up.

Very beautiful park and castle, with breathtaking views of the surrounding area. If you have a ticket in advance and arrive early entry can be quick, but be careful not to arrive too late, or want to enter the castle. The line to visit the interior of the castle was very long and we found the view from the balconies satisfactory.

The Pena Palace is a must-see in Sintra, but in the high season, it's too crowded, and I prefer walking through Pena Park. The flora in the park is amazing, so much variety, and there's always something in bloom. If you buy a ticket just for Pena Park, it's much cheaper, and you're able to see the Palace from the outside as well.
From Pena Park you can make a beautiful walk down to the old centre of Sintra.
