A Royal Oasis in Tehran - Parsian Esteghlal Hotel

From the moment you set foot in the Parsian Esteghlal Hotel, you can feel the pulse of history echoing through its walls. Once known as the Royal Hilton, the hotel was a symbol of a modern Tehran before the Islamic revolution - an emblem of elegance, majesty, and refinement. Today, it retains its royal charm, subtly whispering stories of a rich past.

Every spring, I make my annual pilgrimage to Tehran for the Persian New Year, eager to immerse myself in the traditions and celebrations that make this time so special. Throughout the years, I have explored various five-star hotels across the city, but no matter where I go, I always find myself returning to the Parsian. Like an old friend, it welcomes me with open arms and makes me feel right at home.

On each visit, the warm and delightful staff go out of their way to ensure that my stay is nothing short of perfect. They know me so well that they always reserve a room for me on the highest floor, affording me stunning views of the city that truly are a sight for sore eyes.

Nestled perfectly with a commanding view of the posh northern side of Tehran, the hotel offers unrivalled accessibility to Tajrish and Fereshteh, making it an ideal base for exploration or business. Yet, the bustling city feels a world away when you're gazing at it from the comfort of your room.

One of the unique features that sets Parsian Esteghlal apart is the spectacular display of artworks. Every corridor, every room, is adorned with pieces from Iranian contemporary artists, adding an artistic touch to the luxurious ambiance. These corridors feel like silent galleries, whispering tales of Persian artistry into the ears of those who walk them.

No review of the Parsian would be complete without mention of the staff. The service is impeccable, and the staff are more than just courteous - they're genuinely lovely, making your comfort their priority and adding a personal touch to your stay.

And then there's the breakfast - a culinary delight that you'll be dreaming about long after you leave. The spread is complete with fresh Persian bakery items that fill the dining room with a delicious aroma that's impossible to resist. Each bite feels like a celebration of Persian gastronomy, a true treat to start your day.

The Parsian Esteghlal Hotel, to me, is more than just a hotel. It's a symbol of Tehran's elegance, a keeper of its history, and a home away from home. I look forward to many more springtime stays in this charming abode.

A magnificent souvenir of the past architecture and one of the first hotels in the whole Middle East, which was launched in Iran in the early 1950s.

I highly donot recommend this hote and am sharing my experience in order the hotel management and front staff improve their service . It seems the hotel is a 5 star however the condition of the rooms showed it is a 1 star hotel ,I have visited this hotel 2 nights before about 10 pm and asked for a room first they gave me a room with two single beds and when I requested for a twin bed they moved me to a new room . Upon my entrance to the room since it was almost 1130 tried to use the bathroom which was showing it is sealed and disinfected as per hotel statement , unfortunately I found the toilet bowl was not flashed and was used . When I informed the room service they just came and said sorry and left .next morning I asked to meet the manager of the hotel and after long waiting a man his name Mr Rahimi was so cool about the case and showed it is normal and the room is not a main part of their service which was shocking to hear from a five star hotel management. My rating for this hotel is 1 as their front desk sated knowledge and room conditions are below average but the price is above expectation and their service is disgusting .

Very hard to find parking space, specially during weeding ceremonies at the hotel

The coffee shop at the lobby has an average service in terms of both quality and speed.

You can find 2 great restaurants in the back yard of the Hotel which are open till midnight

The lobby and the rooms definitely need updating. As far as the location goes it would be a perfect place to stay, if you are on a business trip or visiting the Tehran Convention Center/ Exhibition. But if you are visiting Tehran as a tourist, I definitely recommend other hotels, because you really can't walk to anywhere. The breakfast buffet is good enough for a hotel. The prices are reasonable. The staff are extremely nice and helpful.

- I was honestly very dissatisfied with my stay at Esteghlal. We booked a suite and there were problems with the room. Starting with the bathrooms, the master one did not have a hose, and the toilet in the living room was positioned in a very uncomfortable way. The flush didn’t work well and the blow dryer was only suitable for drying armpit hair. The internet connection would constantly disconnect and it wouldn’t work in the master bedroom. The breakfast could have also been much better. The croissants and danish rolls were stored in a closed container so they were extremely soggy. I found a 1 inch walnut shell in my “apple pie” which could have seriously harmed my teeth if I had not noticed. The boiled vegetables tasted like they were days old. I asked for room temperature water and they told me they only had ice/hot water.
- We had a serious business meeting in the lobby and mid way, a woman came up to us and told us that we needed to leave. When we asked why, she told us that this was a monetary space and we needed to pay. We had no problem with paying and we did after the meeting. But we were upset with the fact that there was no sign, the hotel had rented the middle of the hotel lobby to a private company (not a separate room), and this lady was not there beforehand, and she interrupted the meeting.
- On the other hand, the staff was nice. Overall, price did not meet performance. This is NOT a 5 star hotel.
I spent half a day in this hotel about 32 years ago (yes, 32 years ago, this is not a typo), while waiting for my late-night flight out of Tehran. Since there was no internet 32 years ago, I thought that I give you a perspective on how this hotel was at that time. This hotel was a dump then, and based on the recent low rating reviews, it is still a dump. Just about everyone working in this hotel was rude. Room service was slow, front desk staff were unprofessional, rude, and had no clue about customer service. Even the guy working in the souvenir shop was rude and did not seem to be interested in being there. I make one exception, the shoeshine man working in the lobby was nice. I thought that I give you a perspective on what was going on in this hotel 32 years ago. And the fact that it is still a dump after all these years.
