Drawing House

My brother attended this art facility, my brother is autistic and would complain that he felt left out. I went to pick him up early one day and they had him in the corner doing his own thing all alone. My brother loves to socialize and learn, if you have a child with special needs please do not take them here!!

What a fabulous place! There are so many things I could say about this place, but I have to keep it short. Staff are extremely knowledgeable. Their prices are realistic. The information I received made me feel really comfortable, and it brought joy to the art of painting. I ended up purchasing just what I needed without having to go overboard. I actually had intended to come in and purchase an eraser for my daughter;) A fine example of what you want in an art store. I’m looking forward to going back again the next time I’m in Barrie, Ontario.

Nice little art store, but the sales person was very aggressive and pounced on me the second I entered the store wanting to help me find what I was looking for right away without letting me look around. I did tell them that made me uncomfortable at the end. I would have went through and looked at all the different colours and picked a lot more out if it wasn’t for that. I wish people knew that a lot of people into art have some anxiety and to relax and let people get in and look around a little and be gentle and let them come to you.

People are also looking at prices when they start going to a newer store to see if thats a good place for them to shop. So even through they might have ideas of what they came in there for, prices will affect of they do it.

I think this is one of the reasons a lot of people start on the online market, they can shop relaxed, read things and compare prices, there isn’t a rush to get them in and out.

This is the closest art store to me through right now and I hope as they get to know me they settle down and let me shop and stop being too aggressive with the introverts. I kinda wonder if I go during the week if they would be more settled down and relax more.

Will give it another go perhaps on a Monday afternoon.

Wanted to get here sooner and glad I finally did. This is a beautiful store, well organized with all the supplies you need. I was advised on an alternative to my normal fine brushes and they have worked perfectly. I will be heading back very soon. So nice to have a real art supply store locally.

I love visiting the Drawing House. I always feel welcome - all of the staff I have met are wonderful and kind, and full of knowledge. Its a small space with a lot of stuff, I love to look around and always leave with something new. Always look forward to my visits. Thanks for being there for the artist community in Barrie!
