Nestled amidst the urban buzz of Tsim Sha Tsui, the Hong Kong Museum of Art proved to be an oasis of artistic delight during my recent Hong Kong visit. For a mere 30 HKD on a weekday, I stepped into a world of captivating beauty, where ancient Chinese ceramics whispered tales of dynasties past, and contemporary installations challenged my perceptions.
Navigating the museum was a breeze. Clear signage and helpful staff ensured I never felt lost, even without a pre-planned itinerary. Each gallery unfolded like a surprise, showcasing a stunning array of artworks across eras and disciplines. I marveled at the delicate brushstrokes of Ming Dynasty paintings, chuckled at the witty social commentary of modern photography, and was left awestruck by the sheer scale and audacity of a towering abstract sculpture.
But the experience transcended the art itself. The museum's expansive windows frame breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour, transforming into a canvas bathed in the fiery hues of the setting sun as the afternoon melted into evening. Sipping tea at the café overlooking this panorama was a moment of pure serenity, the perfect post-art contemplation space.
Overall, the Hong Kong Museum of Art offered far more than just a collection of beautiful objects. It was a journey through time and cultures, a platform for dialogue and reflection, and a delightful surprise amidst the city's bustling energy. For anyone seeking a cultural immersion in Hong Kong, this hidden gem is an absolute must-visit.

Lots of amazing collection and you can visit the museum for free. They had these lovely scent stickers you can take as well. Don’t forget to stop by the museum’s shop as well!

Went over on a Friday late afternoon and I wasn't really sure what time they closed. The exhibits have a nice element of interactivity at different levels, so it's enjoyable to visit and you're not just standing in front of things looking.
For example, you can try out being a scholar at a replica desk and touch the various items on the table to know more about them. There's also lots of info in the guides that are not just rehashed in the display, so that really adds to the experience as well.
I also enjoyed their top notch curation as everything was just pleasant, the setup was like a journey of discovery leading you onward. Lighting on the exhibits was suitably dramatic, but not so glaring as to affect your view nor too dark to be able to read the text.
Facilities in the building were also great, well supplied and spacious. I liked that the museum shop products were creatively referencing the current collections on exhibit, and it was not just generic HKMOA branded stuff.

Fantastic place to visit in Hong Kong. The museum is located very near to the Avenue of stars and easily accessible from the Tsim Sha Tsui metro or ferry station.
Entry is free for all visitors and the place is maintained immaculately. There are five floors of exhibits with each floor covering a different theme.

As the Museum of Art of Hong Kong, HKMoA has amazing collections of local art, ink and brush paintings, Chinese antiquity and China Trade arts. Re-opened in 2019 after massive renovation for nearly 4 years. Free admission for most galleries except an occasional special exhibitions, yet the ticket price is very reasonable. Worth visiting in all time.
