I tripped on mushrooms here. It was to say the least, a beautiful experience!

Stopped here while waiting for construction traffic and wandered around a while. Fantastic pioneer cemetery that someone obviously makes an effort to maintain. Interesting to see the cemetary divided as it is by denominations and groups.

Great place to explore some of the pioneers from Austin's history final resting place. Austin was founded by a silver strike in 1862. Thousands flocked to Austin turning it into a major boom town. This cemetery is a silent place to pay respects to the people who founded one of the great silver towns of the old west.
The cemetery is easy to find as it is located right on Highway 50 on the west side of Austin town limits.

I love to visit cemeteries with beautiful statuary, especially angels. The Austin cemetery has several beautiful angels. Heartbreaking to see all the graves of babies and children. Tells the sad story of the harsh life in western mining towns.
