Jersey City, a historical town, holds a special place in my heart and remains one of my favorite destinations in the NYC area. Van Vorst Park, though modest in size, captivates with its historic charm, offering glimpses into the early immigrant establishments that shaped this vibrant city. The rich history and unique character of Jersey City make it a must-visit, providing a delightful escape within the proximity of NYC.

No person to talk to directly in historic preservation office. I was referred to click-fix but when I put in my email it read “we already have this email.” Then I couldn’t continue.
Two vacant homes in the Bergen Hill historic area are being covered in vinyl siding. I thought that vinyl was not allowed. One building looks like no insulation is being used other than thin black sheeting under the vinyl. In addition, one house, a small Victorian with partial vinyl siding so far, also had the entire front yard paved over in cement. Is this allowed? No green space to absorb run off water nor trees to contribute to healthier air quality. Other homeowners in this area had construction stopped because of unauthorized vinyl siding. One had to tear it down and the other house has been vacant a few years due to an unauthorized vinyl siding purchase. What are the laws about acceptable siding in Jersey City’s historic areas?
