The birthplace of this old city. It offers a glimpse of a bygone era, though it may be romanticized at times. In addition, it was salvaged by Christine Sterling in the 30s. This site is still as close as we can get to the Pueblo days. It definitely does justice to the culture and history. They host yearly events of different holidays that are still widely celebrated in Mexico and other Latin American countries. It's a must for anybody, either living in L.A. or a tourist to get a sense of this city's place in time.

Love the food, the market, and the folklore of the shows that we can find at the plaza, a little taste of Mexican Culture.

I was on a cruise, and this was a stop on the bus transfer from the LA Cruise Port to the LA Airport. We arrived early in the morning, so many places were not open yet.

The memories this stop brought back from coming here while in 5th Grade (on a field trip - when I lived in Southern California - I'm now 59 years old) were wonderful. I did not eat at any of the shops in this area. It was too early, and we were stopping at another location for lunch.

This location is a wonderful cultural experience, including the "home".

This is a great part of LA with rich immigrant history. Olvera street is around the corner too. It’s not safe at night but during the day it’s amazing to explore. Tiny shops and restaurants on a small stretch. Smell of food, fabrics and souvenirs in a small city block compete for who’s going to buy what. Everything goes but there is law and order!
