Gave them a try because someone from my estate say it's good. Nope. Will go back to my default one at Blk 442 Spicy Mei Mala Xiang guo.
The cooking is not bad. Not too salty, not too oily and at the correct amount of spicyness. However, the choice of ingredients is lacking. It's my first encounter whereby there is no eggs and nian gao available.
Service on the other hand is below average. The person taking orders doesn't listen to instructions and another staff have to ask the customer a second time.
For the amount we ordered, I think there is poor value for money.

$16 for the portion you see here, for 2 pax. Mostly vegetable and tofu-based items. The spiciness level is inconsistent over the months and years, possibly due to different chefs. Order one down from your usual spice level just to be on the safer side. I do like that it is fragrant despite not using peppercorns and you can specify for it to be cooked with less oil.
This place was popular with students so you’ll find a crowd on a normal school day. The drink stall aunties and table cleaners can have an attitude or be very passive-aggressive especially if you accompany the MLXG with bubble tea for example. To be fair, they did mention no outside food allowed. That being said, the drink stall is cash only while most of the other stalls accept QR payments. A little inconsistent, but bring cash and minimally buy one drink to keep the aunties away.

Quite flavorful and a good amount of 'heat' though the flavours weren't exactly homogeneous within the dish, like for instance the tofu strips and lotus roots were rather dull as opposed to the noodles and mushrooms. Also, I find it's generally quite oily compared to similar mala versions I've had elsewhere. Overall it was still quite enjoyable for me but I'll definitely request for less oil next time.

the luncheon meat smelt bad like it was spoilt... got wei la but it was SO spicy and didnt have the ma (numbing) feeling and was not super flavourful. but the beef and pork were alright
$19+ for this bowl, kind of expensive

$14 only. I find it quite reasonable. Tasty and mild spicy. Will come back again.

A unique Ma La stall that serves their food without peppercorn. A surprise for sure, but a welcome one.
The meal had a sufficient amount of spicy flavour despite the lack of impact from the usual peppercorn, and the price was average.
For those who have yet to try Ma La, this place could be a good starting point.

Every Ma la got it’s special taste. This store is very nice with a bit of sweet after taste. Always long queue. Must try for Ma La lover.
