Extensive collection with amazing art. I loved the Juan De Pereja exhibit. Also the collection of Egyptian and modern art was awesome. We need to go back again because we missed some of the most famous ones but that was just because we ran out of time. Will be back!

This historic district that was designated in 1977 does not include it's namesake, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. But it is named for the museum because it encompasses the blocks across the street on Fifth Avenue from 78th to 86th Street. The buildings include mansions and brownstones from the nineteenth century and early twentieth century in the Beaux Arts and neo-Renaissance styles. It also includes more modern apartment buildings from the twentieth century.
