Athali Cretan Cuisine

Tragic restaurant, food is mediocre to bad from the starters to the main dishes. Salad was bread with bad tomatoes and totally blunt, the main courses were bellow average, the chicken fillet was a zero tasting dish wrapped with intestens outside. The Shepards pie (kreatotourta) was horrible could not even swollow it from the smelly meat to the poorly cooked pie. The only good thing was the coke and the locale.

What the real travesty is, is the fact that the prices are 15% higher than the already high average prices you can expect in Cretan restaurants.

The atmosphere was good- the most of the dishes was ok but not something special!
We payed more than 50 euro (2 persons)!

We went to a shop and they recommended a real Crete place that was high quality. This place checks off all the boxes. The kitchen is spotless and the seating area is so hip and the chairs have sheep skin. The food equals the amazing decor. We ordered way too much .... all of it was tasty. The house salad came with balsamic vinegar and oil .... amazing fresh we ordered two apps and two meals and two deserts and Dakos & fried Gilkadia ( sweetbreads) then the pork & lamb antikristo. Here our friendly server Nikitas showed us the flame in the kitchen against the meats ... so cool

Good restaurant if you like meat (no seafood there), being bbq or stewed the cretan way. Wine recommended was very good. Snails too. The raki offered is at another level. Overall a very good restaurant with fair prices. Just a bit short at everything to be great.

One of the greatest experiences we had while visiting Heraklion.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is exquisite combing rustic with traditional elements. The traditional “antikristo” can be seen cooking from a window case which makes it even more interesting and special.
The food is mouthwatering and good portioned. The meat is well cooked and seasoned. We tried the antikristo of course and the sheep burgers as main courses which were very delicious and are highly recommended!
Our server welcomed us with a shot of raki before our food and after we finished our meal they treated us with the a platter of home made raki, raki with rose (unbelievably sweet and so tasty!), traditional spoon sweets and fresh fruits.
Thank you for allowing us to end our trip with such a sweet memory! Next time we are in town you will be our first stop!

Excellent typical food, beautiful and relaxing atmosphere, professional and kind personal. Everything was perfect, we had a lot to eat and the prices were absolutely affordable. At the end we were also offered some alcoholic drink and fruit.
