We went during the off season, but still found the place fascinating. There were several artists in residence- a painter, a pottery artist and a wood worker. Super interesting to talk to. A highlight was the Microkosmos café. Spectacular little gallery featuring 3 Korean artists, as well as BTS music and things. The food was delicious and the owner super friendly. Coffee was some of the best I've had in Korea. If you're even a casual fan of BTS, I highly recommend going here. The village is one of the more handicapped accessible places I've seen in Korea, but it will be difficult if you have mobility issues. We found the combination of nature, history, and art kept us interested for several hours.
Jeju Folk Village, or 제주민속촌, offers a captivating glimpse into Korea's rich cultural heritage. The village meticulously preserves traditional thatched-roof houses, known as hanoks, and showcases the island's unique customs. Wander through narrow alleys, adorned with vibrant flora, and explore diverse architectural styles. The immersive experience includes traditional performances, such as folk dances and music, providing a deeper understanding of Jeju's history. While the village exudes charm, some areas might feel overly commercialized. Despite this, it remains a must-visit destination for those seeking an authentic taste of Jeju's past, blending education and entertainment in a picturesque setting.
As a tourist, this is a great place to see how Jeju citizens lived in the past!! It’s interesting and quite a lot to walk - make sure you wear comfortably shoes! There’s a yummy restaurant selling buckwheat noodles and a cafe. PRO TIP: buy the admission ticket before going into the cafe for a 10% off drinks! (We didn’t know earlier :/) The place was interesting to walk around and even a mini zoo you can feed the animals with carrots for 1,000 won.
Nice little folk village with interesting displays and some beautiful nature scenes. It's easy to get lost as the paths are longer than expected. You can find artists on site to make souvenirs and even live animals like chickens.
An amazing place to visit which would provide insights on how Koreans used to live back in the day.
