Absolutely incredible food, so full of flavour. The waiter was lovely and made a fantastic recommendation for a starter. Naan bread was light and I’m assuming house made due to its freshness. Amazing use of spice, would happily go here again and again.

Wow, the food at that restaurant was amazing, it had such a unique and flavourful taste that I haven't experienced before. The texture was perfect and everything was cooked to perfection. The environment of the restaurant was really nice too, it was cozy and inviting! I'm still thinking about how delicious everything was. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal.

Ahh-mazing food! This place is a gem for Indian food in Melbourne. Most the Indian food restaurants are good in south Indian food and while serving North Indian food, they use the same gravy and add chicken, lamb or paneer. If you crave for authentic North Indian food, this place is a must visit. I was blown away with the taste. Ordered Kakori Kebab which was soft, well marinated and juicy; keema nan was soft and full of masala keema; mutton beliram is to die for. The decor is lovely and service is great! The only thing which my heart missed is a Chaas or a lime soda. I wish they add it to their menu.

Came here for lunch today with my work colleague. We enjoyed their curry lunch special for $16.90 (there are a few curries you can choose from for this lunch special) . The restaurant decor is tasteful and the food was presented beautifully. The quality of the food was great too, and the service was friendly. I think it was good value. I'll be back!

ORDERED:
🍱  (Lunch menu): Maharani Thali (non-veg): 3 curries, saffron rice, garlic naan, dessert, raita, papadum ($24.99)

I paid $25.39 including credit card surcharge.

REVIEW:
A great, incredibly filling lunch option at Sher Singh. The 3 curries I think I received are the dhal, butter chicken and goat/lamb!
🌿 If I had to tie it back to their menu, the Daal had: black lentils, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic simmered overnight on slow with cream and a dollop of unsalted butter. This was a great vegetarian and was the 'mildest' in flavour.
🍗  Butter chicken was a boneless chicken tikka cooked in a rich creamy tomato butter gravy. However, I could definitely taste a smokiness to the boneless chicken which makes me think Sher Singh smoked/charcoaled it prior to cooking it in the curry. This was an excellent and delicious addition and added so much flavour and depth to a classic butter chicken curry.
🍖  Similarly, the lamb/goat was heavy with flavour but I wasn't too sure which one it was.
The choices were delicious and I loved choosing between different flavours for each bite.

🌞 The rice didn't particularly scream saffron flavoured, but the garlic naan was delicious. The raita left a refreshing taste, and the papadum is and always be a savoury favourite.

🔥 There's a little bit of a wait during the weekday work lunch, but the food comes out PIPING hot.
I do wish they took the opportunity to explain the curries to me before they went away, but I did feel like they had really good efficiency (quick to give tap water and take my order) when I was there.

The interior is really fitted out and on theme. I appreciate 100% commitment, and it adds so much character to a restaurant. Super fun to read online all about "Sher Singh" and his historical importance as well!

The best Indian food you will find in Melbourne💫

Just last week, I found this fairly new place close to my home... best discovery ever!

This is a high-end Indian restaurant with a menu inspired by the rugged earthiness of North Indian forts and provides slow cooked delicacies.

The place is perfectly decorated, and the music complements the vibe, transporting you directly to India.

The owner was super friendly and welcoming. We loved his story of how he ended up in Melbourne 🤗

We had:
🧆Balls of Heaven $14.99
🍚Saffron rice $12.99
🍗Vegan butter chicken $22.99
🫓Tandoori roti $3.99

Awesome food, awesome ambience and very welcoming staff. Highly recommended. A bit pricey but worth the price. Even we wanted Masala tea which was not in Menu but the chef was so friendly he made that for us and it was awesome too
