I enjoy visiting San Antonio, and my friends who live in San Antonio. So many historic attractions, amusement parks, restaurants, and the zoo.

Arriving early from my Texas Eagle trip from STL to San Antonio. Fantastic crew for this 26-hour ride…I was in a sleeper car and so well taken care of! thank you Amtrak!

Brace yourself for twofold delays - both weather related and questionable train malfunctions.
Thanks to Amtrak I missed a new year’s celebration with family and friends. There was a departure delay and an arrival delay. My speed-o-meter app clocked us in at an average of 40 miles an hour. For a 6 and a half hour trip.
Spare yourself the struggle of this embarrassing mode of transportation. Fly, drive, or just stay home. 👎🏼

Great city with beautiful old buildings full of character. Visit The Alamo for free and stroll around the Riverwalk. Great Mexican food at La Mexicana restaurant.

4 stars BUT I tried to get a video of departing but the horn sounded he said you need to move away from the front of the locomotive so I moved away from p42 151 into behind Amtrak p42 161 the phase 1 heritage then we recorded train number 2 the sunset limited departing at 6:25am in the rain
Sadly this Railfan spot is dangerous for filming trains but still a good spot
Try to stay away from the front of the locomotive while the train is departing the engineers can see you what are you doing here
PLEASE pay attention what are you doing and going
4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pretty town, mostly pretty clean and inviting, lots to do, clubs, shopping, upscale entertainment, sporting events, concerts, etc. If you can't find something to do here you ain't looking lol

Two things has tarnished my opinion of AMTRAK. The first is the rude ladies who work the counter at Amtrack in San Antonio Texas. Second, is Amtrak used to have a separate Shipping Dept., along with the regular people transport. That shipping department, allowed Me to travel for the price of airfare, BUT, I could also bring as much as I needed in addition to My carry-on because of shipping. I shipped 4 bikes and 6 more large boxes for $300. That is the best deal that USED to be available by taking AMTRAK. Problem is, they have discontinued Shipping. BUMMER. Now I can fly for same cost, but no shipping. Because Amtrak takes Two Days where a plane takes a few hours, it’s now hard to justify taking such a slow transport - that offers no additional shipping benefit. Now, let me tell you about the rude ladies… The last time I left San Antonio to L.A., these ladies wouldn’t check my boxes because they were as little as .5 pounds overweight. I didn’t have a scale to get the exact weights. I was very close. But even that just .5 pounds over, they wouldn’t make an exception. Instead, they forced me to cut open and repack the boxes, over and over, until they were perfectly under 50lbs… Telling Me the train was 30 hour out, but, neglected to mention, my bags had to be checked by certain time before then… I was held up in the lobby with all the 1/2 lb here, there thing, without knowing my window of time to check my boxes had come and gone. So, although I as there early, because my boxes we .5lb for one, 1.5lb for other, etc…while I was forced to cut my boxes open and re distribute the weight, in the mean time I wasnt told that I was missing the window of time to check my things before the train arrived - So I missed my train as I stood there looking at it come and go - sweating, frustrated and now angry…. Forced Me to not only rent a SECOND U-Haul truck to come back, but also delayed Me three days later than my schedule. Did the ladies who work there Intentionally allowed me to repack my boxes, knowing that doing that was going to force me to miss the train?
… Bad experience… from what seems like heartless employees.
