The best afternoon tea I've had in Edinburgh so far. Gorgeous building, great central location and operating out of a working library, the Gran Caffe is arguably the best tea and coffee pitstop choice if you've got tired legs from a morning of walking the Royal Mile. I can't wait to go back.

The cafe is set in beautiful and unusual setting of a working law library, Gran Cafe serves up delicious cakes and adequate coffee. For hundreds of years, entry to the Signet Library was reserved to lawyers gaining 'Writers to the Signet' membership. Now, it's been opened up to the public and is well worth a visit. Admittedly, there is nothing special about the food but for the location on the Royal Mile its actually very good in comparison to anything else you'll get nearby at the price point and the setting is just jaw dropping.
