there are still caves, but the Indians, unfortunately, have been gone for a very long time…

One of the coolest things on Manhattan. I had been in the city for 10 days and feeling a disconnect from nature, visiting the caves fixed this. The bushland is truly beautiful! I hidden gem in such a wonderful city.

Unbelievable! There is a giant forest right next to Big Apple… can you believe that? Come with with insect repellents and also carry a lot of water! It takes 2 hours plus to walk the entire trails… if you also choose to walk the side trails, it will be well over 3:00 hours walking… truly beautiful nature… oh don’t climb on the rocks by Indian cave, it’s slippery…

Imagine- Native Americans were able to find their way home without placards and paved trails and tourist brochures! This site is a few steps uphill off the main path but not hard to find. Just walk as close as you can on the Google Maps trail, go a bit south and you'll see an uphill wooded trail along a stretch of the paved path lined with drainage stones.

My daughter and I came here the other day for a hike. It was great. Other hikers abound, no sketchy people on our visit. For a longtime Manhattan resident this place is rare indeed. How much land on this island is like it was pre-contact. Fascinating place..

Wow!! So the trails leading to the caves are poorly cared for so def have proper shoes on and take your time. A walking stick will help ;) It's an amazing place and really cool to see. I climbed up with my dog today and it was just us.

Great little trek through Inwood Park grounds. Venture off the trails to see some interesting rock and Indian Caves. Lots to see if you're the exploring type. Otherwise, a beautiful place to catch your morning exercise or for a leisurely stroll.
