As a UMD student, I enjoy walking on the brick path when crossing through Hornbake Plaza, but the buildings around the plaza are kind of mid. There is a nice balcony nearby and the Frederick Douglass sculpture, which does boost the rating of this plaza. I have seen events be held here, so there is some utility to this space.

Lots of benches and some tables. Nice to sit outside and study during good weather

Turtle shaped. Close to Bio-psych building, Hornbake library, and Edward St John building. Cool statue of Fredrick Douglass

Great outdoor space with benches. During the semester there's different activity booths set up here.

A nice calm place to either sit and enjoy the weather or go for an event
While mostly brick open space it does have many bench and wooden tables surrounding it to the North side. The streets are small and there is a fountain in the walkway between a nearby set of tables. Fairly limited in its greenery, but not a bad place to study in the summer if you don't need WiFi. WiFi here is weak to non existent even when surrounded by university buildings.
