The Highlanders Bakehouse

We decided to visit The Highlanders Bakehouse after reading good reviews online.
We were not disappointed and would highly recommend a visit here if in the area.
It’s much nicer and more reasonable than anything in Balmoral so why not give it a try.
The whole ethos of the owners and the soundtrack of the place certainly hit the spot with us. You have to be brave with a soundtrack like this as it could scare people off but for us it was just magic !!!

The food was just amazing with everything being made on site. This business started as an extension to a baker supplying local outlets with breads and cakes to now supplying these on site.

The young couple who own and run this Bakehouse along with the young member of staff who takes your order should be applauded for everything they do. Starting to bake bread at 2am and still in the Bakehouse at midday not only shows a Love for the business but a desire to serve and be successful.

It is a bit quirky but we loved it and will certainly be back!

We had Bacon and runny egg on Focaccia along with a Cinnamon Bun with drinks. All tasted absolutely brilliant !

Missing the baking delights of this family at your pearl. An artisan bakery who decided to knock down the garage of their family home to open this cafe. We are all the benefactors of this labour of love❣️ The sitting area is an outside wooden gazebo with 'curtains' and kept warm with wall heaters. Blankets are provided on every seat during the winter. We just had drinks and pastries but the light lunch items looked amazing. Parking is a bit limited outside the local Primary School but the Balmoral Castle car park is nearby and costs £5. High recommend. 😋👍

Wow, what a find! Amazing food, super coffee, and very yummy cakes and scones. It's definitely worth stopping here if you're in the area. The toasties are huge with a tasty side salad (not just a few limp lettuce leaves!) - a meal in itself! It's hard not to want to try one of everything! We'll definitely be back again and saved in our place to eat in Scotland. And not particularly expensive either. 😋☺️

Excellent little coffee shop. Fabulous cakes and pastries. Just had to buy some to take home. Toasties were extremely tasty in homemade rosemary and sea salt focaccia.

Would recommend a visit. It is small but some seating outside. Very dog friendly with water bowls, water for the dogs and a jar of dog treats.

An easy 5 star. 🌟 everything about this place is inviting - their staff members are so friendly & love a good chat! We enjoyed everything we had here. The coffee is delicious, the butterys are next level 😍 the cinnamon scrolls, and other pastries are just as good!!!! We were staying nearby and came here 3 times over a 7 day period. 😅🫣

We arrived at opening time before all the baked goods came out. We stayed for over an hour ordering more pastries than we could ever finish and boxed them to go. The butteries are scrumptious. The donuts are incredibly delicate, fluffy and decadent. We didn’t even get to their famous scones but they looked fantastic. Take some time out of your day to stop by this gem.

Located only a few minutes walk from the Balmoral castle entrance, this cosy setting is actually a garage converted into a restaurant! We had some delicious vegetarian sandwiches and a vegan burger whilst enjoying the views of the fields across the road. We also tried the apple & cinnamon scone which came along with clotted cream and jam and this was scrumptious. The atmosphere was also very inviting and the service was fantastic, we didn't have to wait long to be served despite it being so busy! Definitely recommend!
