My apologies for the long post, but worth the read if you can. If I could give Wichita Pottery zero stars, I would. And I have taken classes at this location in the past. I just called to discuss becoming a member for myself and my 14 yr old granddaughter. The woman that answered said they have to be 18 yrs old to attend any classes. I explained to her that my Granddaughter is very mature and that she has attended several pottery classes at Mark Arts - hand building, sculpting and wheel throwing. In fact her instructors there have encouraged her to apply for scholarships. They mentioned that she cleaned her station better than many of the adult students. I have actually taken her to many other art classes at several locations below the "required age" and she did well above my and the instructor's expectations. Mark Arts is just on the other side of town from where we both live. I tried to plead her case to this woman and she said NO. I said "ahh, I guess neither of us will be able to attend then because I want to her join in and expand her talent". She said with a very offensive tone "Oh well". WOW!!! What happened to the art community accepting all? I try to do several different art classes with her so she realizes there is so much more than screen time or worse. All these classes have helped mold her. She is adamant about attending an art college. Just because of this woman's tone that answered the phone at Wichita Pottery, I will NEVER support them and will tell everyone I know about my experience with this person - life long. Interesting that their website mentions "thank you for supporting small business and local artists" when they apparently do not support upcoming artists. I guess she has so much business that she doesn't need to have additional members...until she does.

Jill runs a great studio and Richard is an amazing coach! I've learned so much and had a great time meeting the other members in just a few months. It's a great way to decompress in the evening or just have a midday escape.

Took our first class throwing pottery. Great teacher, nice place and a more than fair price.

Update. Gone back many times since. Totally awesome place.

I have been driving past this place for 4 years & finally was able to check it all out. When I lived in Calif I loved going to a pottery studio, found it very relaxing, hoping I'd find that here in Wichita. I absolutely loved everything about this place. The staff were very helpful & friendly. I have never worked with clay, before I'd buy the piece I wanted to paint. Here at Wichita Pottery you can take classes to learn how to handwork & create something using your hands or learn how to use the pottery wheel. They have everything you'd need along with the perfect atmosphere to enjoy your experience to the fullest. So now I want to add pottery to my long list of crafts I have learned along the way. The prices are reasonable too & after you learn what you are doing, you are considered a member & can go in as often as you like on your own, at your own pace. Y'all should join this wonderful art community, I know I will!!

I've heard of Wichita pottery from my hairstylist when she showed me her projects she had made and I was just in awe. I signed up right after she told me about it and had classes on Mondays. First day there I met the staff and got my sculpting kit and was put in the classroom which was such a cute room full of different kind of pottery. I didn't know what class I signed up for but I figured it would be with my hairstylist but it wasn't which I was Ok with since I'll be making some sort of pottery. When class started, the instructor was sweet she gave out great instructions but the downfall is that class was only an hour long so since we are new it was hard to finish a project in an hour. Long story short, a few Mondays flew by and I had to stop going because my work schedule didn't work well with their schedule since I fly from city to city for clinic and came home late so I had to stop. I tried looking at my schedule but it just doesn't work out which I loved the class. 4 stars for the class being fun and exciting and left out 1 star because of the time we were given.

Fun and loving atmosphere. Jill really knows her stuff. My wife and the Wichita Knitters Guild and I went and made yarn bowls. Great fun and we demoed the flat spin shaping or"throwing" pottery ... So great! All levels of classes available way more than reasonable prices. And...custom hand made art in their gallery entrance to this place of relaxation and comfort. Definitely will be there again.
