Mouse Ceramic Studio is THE best place for beginners to learn ceramics and veteran potters to improve their technique. Pedro and Lauren, the owners, have culled an immensely talented team of teachers who work with a wide variety of techniques. Pinch pots to moon jars, there is something for everyone here. The studio has a great selection of glazes and clay bodies, but what really sets it apart is the community of ceramicists it has fostered. This is a friendly, non-judgmental, immensely talented group of people. I've worked in 5 different studios/workshops over the past few years, and Mouse is the standout. Stop reading this and sign up for a class!

Mouse Ceramics Studio is the best pottery studio in Brooklyn. I have been doing pottery in NYC for the past 12 years. I have taken classes at four or five other studios throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. All were nice studios, but Mouse is my favorite. Excellent teachers for students of all ability levels. All the resources of a full-service pottery studio. They offer beginners classes, advanced classes, workshops, private lessons. If you're new, you can come in on select days for a one-time wheel class. White stoneware is free and abundant. Porcelain (and other clay bodies, I think) for sale. At least two dozen glazes to choose from. Spacious tables to hand-build/glaze. Work fired quickly and expertly. Studio is spacious, clean, and light-filled. Lots of shelf-space. Even when the studio is busy, it never feels crowded. Most importantly for me, Mouse has an awesome "community" feel. The tone is set by its owners--husband and wife duo, Pedro and Lauren. Pedro is a potter, teacher, and ingenious tinkerer, who keeps the class offerings and glaze selections fresh and interesting. Lauren (an exceptional craftsperson in her own right) runs the place like a well-oiled machine. They are approachable and kind people who truly care about their patrons and their community. Even if you are not in the neighborhood, I recommend making the trip to check it out.
