I loved this place and would definitely visit again! I should not that I had a late dinner here after a day of traveling, so I didn't try as many dishes as I would normally try.

Food: I savored the Eggplant and Whey Dip, a symphony of roasted eggplant, crispy onions, cured whey yogurt, and mint oil that danced on my palate with exquisite flavor. The Roasted Cauliflower, adorned with a tantalizing tomato & chili glaze, shallot yogurt, pickled vegetables, and pistachio, offered a delightful journey through contrasting textures and bold flavors. Lastly, the Medjool Date & Lentil rice transported me to the heart of Persia with its aromatic Basmati rice, infused with raisins, lentils, cinnamon, saffron, and crispy onions—a comforting embrace of authentic flavors.

Service: The service at the restaurant was top-notch! The staff were so friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. They really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and taken care of. It definitely added to the cozy vibe of the place and made our dining experience one to remember!

Vibe: The vibe of this place was just perfect – laid-back yet inviting, with a clean and comfortable atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. It had this effortless charm that made it feel like a home away from home. The simplicity of the decor combined with the casual ambiance created a relaxing environment where I could truly unwind and enjoy my meal.

I can't wait to get back to New York and try more items at SOFREH!

Excellent service.
Great decor and ambience. Clean and modern.
Eggplant appetizer was great. Bread was amazing. Fried rice was good too. Beef stew was great. Lamb is a bit overrated. Was very well cooked but missed some flavor. Lamb taste was too strong, when proper spices added you should not taste lamb smell. So they could do better job on that.
Icr cream sandwich was amazing. Def must have. And custard dessert was actually good too. So overall is great. Just lamb was worse than expected from reviews.

Had super high expectations of this place for obvious reasons. The spot is nice and cozy and service is amazing. It’s a bit loud inside though. The lamb was incredible, and the date and tahini salad was good (a bit too heavy on the dressing for my taste). Bread and yogurt were ok and the tahdig was not worth ordering again. Yogurt custard was something I’d never tried before and was pleasantly surprised by. 4 stars just cause it didn’t blow my mind and it is an expensive place after all.

Great and unique tastes. My favorites were the eggplant dip with the bread, steak kebab, sweet potato, and roasted pickled cauliflower (the appetizer). Pretty average / would not get again I thought were the salad, cauliflower steak main entree, and catch of the day. And, did not think that the saffron rice was worth the $8.

Delicious, flavorful dishes in an ambient setting. The wait staff was very helpful guiding us in the appropriate rice to pair with the beef stew. The people are friendly and the food is unique. Can’t wait to come back here and make it a neighborhood spot.

It was my first time trying Persian food and the experience was excellent!

I picked this spot for my birthday where a friend of mine took me. We enjoyed a lot the sweet potato, eggplant appetizer, the tahdig side. It was interesting to see that no coffee was served (i don’t drink straight coffee but noticed)

The chef Nassim was so nice and came to talk about the dishes. Loved our server and the vibe overall.

Something that stood out were the little boxes underneath our chairs to place bags or any other items, genius and very convenient!
I’d recommend this place and will go back!

This wasn't just a meal. It was a whole adventure through one of the most incredible dining experiences I have had this year. I have dined at some exceptional restaurants this year in Philly, Fort Lauderdale, and NYC and I am having a tough time finding another restaurant that comes close to my experience at Sofreh. From the suggestions and guidance from our knowledgeable server to watching the executive chef finish performing last touches to the plates before offering them for service. What made the experience even better is that the staff, front of house and back of house, seemed like family which gave patrons an energy that matched the cuisine. But back to the kitchen as I was lucky enough to watch them work...I watched four people in the kitchen work in a tight space as if choreographed as they created magical dishes and flavors. The joy on the faces of the artists in the kitchen told me it was going to be a great experience because they were having a good time. It is rare to come across a place like this, with a front and back of house that made me want to put on an apron and go back to my days in a restaurant, Sofreh made me want to do just that. Today, most restaurants are chaotic without a sense of organization and the food suffers because of it - not at Sofreh. I will be back many times and intend to eat everything on the menu in the next few months. Also, the young crowd understands this is the spot and now I understand why it takes so long to get a reservation...we were some of the older people there but I stand undeterred. My generation needs to get out here and experience this amazing staff and this incomparable menu. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.
