So yes this is a very beautiful hike & there are a lot of stairs. However it is a hike & if you do it from start to finish (from Quidi Vidi) its gets quite challenging towards the second half. Lots of narrow paths without barriers very close to the edge & at one point the path is so narrow there’s a metal chain in the mountain side you’ll need to hold on to.

Beautiful trail system that takes you beside the St Johns harbour and up to the top of Signal Hill. Trails are well maintained but do have natural areas that are rocky. Lots of natural points to stop and enjoy the view! I would consider it a moderate hike for most.

Beautiful trail for a quick run or hike. You can go up from the battery or down from signal hill or do both it is excellent for a good 1 hour workout :) the last set of stairs is BRUTAL.

This is a beautiful hike that curves around the side of Signal Hill. We started at the top and made our way to the bottom, which ends on Battery Road. To get back to the Signal Hill visitors centre, we took another path. While quite challenging, the beautiful views make this hike worth the trek.

If you want to walk about Signal Hill from St John’s start from downtown go through the battery and up and back the North Head Trail! It brings you along the cliffs along the ocean on boardwalks up to Signal Hill!

Very scenic trail for a nice afternoon hike. The trail ended on the top of signal hill near the castle. Some segments are steep and some don't have hand rails.

Excellent hiking trail if picking just one to do when in St. John and you dont have a lot of time. Free 2 hour parking is available beside the Battery Cafe at Battery road. The entrance is a bit tricky to find. Walk up middle battery road from parking (to the left) then veer right at the first foot path. Look for the signs and symbols as noted in the photos and you will find the trail head. I would consider this a difficult hike due to numerous stairs, a tight hiking path with uneven surfaces and inclines and one section that is narrow and has a chain to hold on to while traversing. Several local were trail running this path (good on you all !) and will work up a good sweat. Bring water and something to take pictures with. The view at the base of signal hill is phenomenal and shows beautiful views of the city along the way. Not suited for cyclists. Happy trails !!
