Serra Sculpture Park

I am a fan of some of Richard's work, most notably Tilted Arc, that was installed in downtown Manhattan and frustrated employees of the building whose entrance it blocked.
This installation uses the same Cor-Ten steel that he typically worked in and has some intriguing elements. But not easy to fathom all the aspects of this work in one quick visit. I think it will take study over a long time. Which is good for the folks who work in the nearby buildings to continue to observe.

Another nice park to walk through in the city. Neat statues and good location.

I took my dogs for a walk here. It was like walking thru an oitdoor art exhibition but vibrantly full of people, mainly kids, and peaceful all at the same time. Nice little oasis in the middle of the city.

Reviews and photos don’t represent the correct park. A lot of the reviews and photos on this are for the sculpture park right next to this one. This park has one sculpture called “Weathered Steel”

It’s thick slabs of steel that are mounted in the ground in the shape of a weird triangle and are being weathered over time and are rusted. Kind of like leaving 3 nails in a triangle shape in your yard and calling it “weathered nail” and letting it rust and calling it art. It just seemed awkward and took up a lot of land that could have been developed to create a much nicer park.

It seemed out of place and almost like a construction site at first until we found the plaque for the park in the backside near the sidewalk. This was the least appealing view we saw our whole time in St. Louis. Unfortunate that it’s out right next to a beautiful and fun sculpture park.
