Staten Island Ferry was free and fast. I was able to see everything between Manhattan and Staten Island. There is plenty of seating even though in the terminal it looks like there are too many people. There are nice views on the front, back, and side of the boat.

[August Review - 3 stars]

Maybe they read this review, maybe the tides changed, but it doesn’t smell like urine or pot smoke lately :) Hooray!

[July Review - 1 star] The ferry itself is great, as is the waiting room. But it smells like urine and weed in between the front door and the waiting room. This is because they don’t let homeless people in the waiting room, and the waiting room is the only place with restrooms.

There’s also the main staircase at the front door where homeless people and/or weed smokers frequently camp out in; so, just not super great.

A nice free service by the NYC Dots. If you want to see the Statue board on the left side of the ferry. Sometimes people crowd at the doors to get the best view near the windows. I prefer the upper level for a better view. You can also go to the front of the ferry for a nice view of the skyline whilst docking at Manhattan.

Lots of homeless people at the St. George terminal. They congregate mostly on the east side of the waiting room. Strong security presence inside ferry terminal, not so much on bus ramps. In Manhattan there is no homeless activity, I think that is mostly because of it's location being so close to Battery Park and the Financial District. Heavy tourist presence and as a result lots of tour ticket salespeople and related vendors. Expensive retail newstands/convenience stores and coffee house chains as well as fast food restaurants. Public restrooms are at both locations and well maintained.

Very convenient service and it’s a free of charge service.
After about 15 to 20 mins departed from Staten Island you can see the liberty statue on the left side of the ferry.
they play a safety announcement after, passengers are onboard.
Well maintaining service.

FREE! One of the few free things you can do in NYC! Officially called the Staten Island Ferry, also may hear South Ferry, all interchangeable. It runs 24/7, great views, hang out/grab a bite at Empire Outlet Mall ( daylight only) on the Staten Island side. NYCs' only Outlet Mall.
