A historic place with great location and beauty but ignored on cleanliness.
The outdoor of the mosque is all covered with dust. They sell you shoes covers outside or you have the option to remove your shoes to enter. The beauty of this place could be much much more enhanced with simple cleanliness.

The Citadel is an amazing construction with beautiful view to the old part of Cairo. The Mohhamed Ali Mosque is really impressive and the interior is fantastic. The visit is really worth it!

An iconic landmark in Cairo with an intriguing history. Sadly modern construction on the panorama viewing area spoils the ambiance of history.
The military museum is badly lit and a large proportion of the rooms were closed giving it a distinct feeling of neglect.
The Royal Garden a recent addition is an extra LE 10, but you can climb the staircase to the walls, sadly again neglected.

Very nice citadel with a mosques inside similar to blue mosque in Istanbul. A lot of incredible lighting lots up the mosque giving a different vibe all together. Totally recommend a visit.

Every country should make it a requirement to travel to experience the cultures and see living truths. Absolutely beautiful place that gave me such a sense of peace. 800 year old mosque and museums learning the truth history from the ones living it. The views and sunset were absolutely awe inspiring, it was truly a special experience to share with my old friends from a historic treasure.

We visited the Cairo citadel and it was amazing. The entry to the citadel is ticketed and costs 450 Egyptian pounds and there were no queues to enter and there are also no restrictions to entry. The citadel is home to Mohamad Ali mosque, army and police museums so there are a lot of areas to explore within it. Highly recommended as this is one of the must visit places in Cairo city after the Pyramids and the museum.

Must visit in Cairo. Don't miss the Police and Army Museums next to the famous Mosque which has beautiful architecture. Sacred place shoes outside or plastic covers. Payments only by Visa cards in dollars. A buggy can take u up and back for 20 Egy pounds. Worth it. Steep walk.
