I ordered a butter chicken, yes I will admit I am from Gauteng , the butter chicken I have tried so far was spicy with a little bit of sugar and buttery flavour, but the butter chicken I had from here ? It was literally sweet , no spicy flavour , just sweet , I could not consume it …….

I remembered this place from a vacation long ago and decided to go back again today and it is even better than I remember! I had a mutton bunny chow and it had tons of meat, only 1 piece of potato and the sauce was excellent. Being from Joburg, the bunny chows I am used to are 99% potato and maybe one piece of meat. This was the exact opposite! And at an unbelievable price point nonetheless (at time of writing less than R100). My partner had a chicken bunny chow and just WOW! I cannot recommend Cumin Cafe enough. Outside of raving about the food I'd like to give a special thank you and compliments to the chef who is the loveliest lady who makes what is considerably the world's best curry, the waiter we had who made the whole experience so fun with his jokes and caring nature and the owner who truly cares about his customers' experience. I will be back every time that I am in Umhlanga. This is a cute spot, central and a must for a traditional, delicious bunny chow.

Cumin Café was a good lunch dining experience. Meals were well presented by a kind gentleman in no time at all. I liked the airy feel of the place and the prices were reasonable. Will def go back!!

Went mid afternoon to check what time they closed. We were told 8 pm. Also enquired if wine and beer were available. Yes, R60 per glass of house wine and R40 per beer - very expensive for a hole in the wall cafeteria type place. Went back at 7.20 pm to try out the bunny only without drinks and were told they were closed, no curry left……the man was abrupt with a bad attitude.

Hands down the worst bunny I have ever tasted. Smelled like the curry was off and old. The bread was soaked with water. Not edible! Stay away from this place!!!

After raising the issue with the owner I was told bluntly that they dont offer refunds. (I offered to take the food back). I was not even offered a replacement meal.

R200 down the drain for bunnies not fit for a dog to eat.

THIEVES!!!!
