Had I written this review within an hour of checking out, it would have been a solid four stars. The staff are professional and friendly, the location is great if you need to stay in the Wharf area, and the rooms are spacious and elegant. Having a clothes steamer in each room was a welcome surprise, and the mini bar was decked out, if that's your thing.
I would have docked a point for the check-in process and lack of clarity around check-in/check-out times. At check-in, there is no traditional front desk. Instead, you're greeted by two concierge-style desks and left standing awkwardly next to your luggage, or sitting just inside the front door. Neither desk was staffed when I arrived, and waited at least five minutes until someone arrived while the staff greeting guests stood nearby. My room was not ready - at 4pm - but the check-in staff were able to get me into another room. The check-in and check-out times are buried on their website, but they are apparently 4pm and 12pm respectively.
It was my experience after checking out that left me with a negative impression. Over the course of the morning, I received multiple autogenerated emails with folio receipts for other guests - not only at Pendry's DC location, but in NYC as well. These receipts contained guests' full names, room numbers, arrival and departure dates, charges, and partial credit card numbers. I received no response from the DC location after responding to one of these many emails, and the influx stopped only after someone at the NYC location removed my email from their system entirely. It was not only frustrating to deal with, but concerning that guests' information is not secure.

Stayed here for the first time and would not recommend. The sheets were dirty as well as the bathroom even though they couldn’t check me in because they were “inspecting the room to make sure it was cleaned”. They also didn’t have a top sheet on the bed so the first night I asked for one and it was removed after service the next day and I had to call for it again the next night. When they brought up the sheet the second night the sheet was dirty too and they had to grab another one. They also didn’t have a steamer in the room so I called to ask for one. They had to bring me up 3 steamers before they found a working one. Also tried to order late night food and even though it says they are open, the kitchen closes and you can’t order food for an hour around 11. The manager listened to my concerns but I don’t feel that they were addressed given the fact that the bed was still wrong the second day.
We just checked into the Pendry on a last second reservation and are all blown away by this hotel so far. It's absolutely georgous here, from the sizable one bedroom suite we are in, to the gym, the pool area, and restaurants on property. Everything is stunning. The pool area, in particular, is special and makes you feel like you're in another world. While not quite as good as the pool area at the Four Seasons in Baltimore, this pool gives that one a run for its money.
We are also very impressed with the Wharf area of DC in general. Other than coming to this area once for a baseball game, we are pleasantly surprised to see all of the fantastic restaurants and nightlife right around this hotel. The developers did a fantastic job building up the Wharf. In any event, the Pendry is going to be our new go-to spot while visiting DC, we HIGHLY recommend this beautiful property!
We are also very impressed with the Wharf area of DC in general. Great location at the Wharf. A great area to stay in, which is filled with restaurants and bars. Would definitely return.
We went for a run in the morning, picking up the complimentary water by the exit (nice touch!) It was a short run to the national monuments and a fantastic start to the day. This was followed by a relaxing afternoon at the pool, which was busy but the perfect way to cool down in the Summer heat!
The room was fantastic - very big, a comfy bed and an enormous and amazing shower in the bathroom. (I do query how many people have slipped on the shower though - take care!)
It’s also a 20 min cab ride to Georgetown if you fancy a change of scene.
Would definitely book again and we much preferred to it to the other hotel we stayed at in Washington previously.

This is a great hotel. Top notch service. Everyone was great. It's located in the perfect spot. All new restaurants. Not to far from Georgetown and other DC attractions. We will definitely be back sooner then later. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
A residence of northern VA, my family and I do staycations in the DC area occasionally. We picked Pendry since it was practically new plus we’ve stayed at the other hotels at the wharf. Compared to the Intercontinental and Hilton, Pendry is our favorite. The rooms, amenities and service are top notch. The staff was very kind, helpful and professional. The gym & the pool were as good as you’d find in high end resorts. The restaurant at the Pendry has a superb breakfast. My family and I plan on returning and enjoying another weekend.
This review is specifically about the rooftop bar.. although the hotel, service and amenities are amazing which is why I gave it 5 stars this is about the rooftop.

The is only one elevator that goes to the penthouse and it is monitored and managed by employees. You will need to be "buzzed" up. Your room key does not give you access.
Ok, so we arrived for our appointment and checked in with the staff member on the first floor. We were buzzed up and then had to check in again once you get to the penthouse. We asked to be seated outside because it was such a beautiful day although inside is just as nice. This spot is a la carte and is more Japanese inspired food. As you will see from my pictures we ordered a little bit of everything. Everything tasted good. The only complaint we had from one friend was that the drinks are not strong enough. The views are amazing as the rooftop wraps all the way around so you can see everything from the capital to the new Fredrick Douglas bridge in SE. You will enjoy your time. Highly recommend at least going once..
