It's the largest artificial lake created by US Army Corp. I am so lucky that I live around the lake.
WORDS OF CAUTION……BE VERY VERY CAREFUL IF GETTING IN CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER BELOW BUFORD DAM……….SEARCH….HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED ON THIS RIVER FROM CONDITIONS ON AND IN THE RIVER……
Nice area on the south side of Buford Dam. Has walking trails, overlooks of the Chattahoochee River, a big sandbar, spots for fishing, and a parking lot. The footbridge on the left side is closed off as of 8/24/22 - perhaps for repairs. And the footbridge on the right leads to Lower Pool West and Bowmans Island Trail.
I live 11mi away on slab foundation and even when power is out in my whole area i can hear the dam when the dam is on. it is not adequately insulated and is disrupting my life. 17-20 Hz is the resonance frequency of flesh, there's a noise ordinance both at county and federal levels abt disruptive noise so i hope this gets fixed soon bc i cannot sleep.
