Just seen this once, a while ago.
Now the man is getting accolades for his time as a political leader.
I'll quote a line from a John Lennon song, " everybody loves you when you're six foot in the ground".

This life-size bronze statue is of Premier John Cain Jr who was born in Melbourne in 1931 and who held office from 1982 to 1990. He was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly as MP for Bundoora in 1976 and became leader of the Victorian Labor Party in September 1981 and became Premier in the April 1982 election that Labor won by a massive 17-seat swing. It turned out that Cain took office at the helm of the first Labor government in Victoria since the one led by his father 27 years earlier. He resigned on 7 August 1990 and in 1991 became a Professorial Fellow in politics at the University of Melbourne.

The statue of Cain is one of 4 statues installed in December 1999 in the forecourt of 1 Treasury Place, the seat of executive government in Victoria and sometimes called Premier's Lane. They honour the longest-serving premiers of Victoria.
