Staying at Pumphouse was such a unique experience. What makes it so special is of course the location which is stunning but the staff are really up there - the service, kindness and genuine thought we received impressed us and made us feel very welcome.

Sure - communal dining is a little uncomfortable initially but actually in reality, it was lovely to meet some new people and we really enjoyed our evening conversation. There is plenty of time for "alone time" with your loved one without feeling like you are missing out at dinner.

Local walking, the e-bikes, sitting by the fire and admiring the view whilst drinking wine and enjoying the fabulous treats in your room - what's not to love!

Thank you Pumphouse Point Team

A great place with some issues.

The location and views are amazing.
The team looking after us were great with Sam being a standout, Jaiden and Mykala were also fantastic.

There were a number of issues however that precludes me giving a better rating.

The food while nice does not meet the standard you would expect from a place like this particularity in Tasmania where even roadside cafes do amazing food. The larder in the room and the hot bread was a nice touch
Communal dining is fine if you don't want to spend quality time with your significant other on a special occasion, this was commented on by most couples that we shared tables, birthdays and anniversary's with. We did however meet some lovely people.
The selection of wines and spirits was good and the pricing was quite reasonable if your were served by waitstaff, but paying bar prices to serve yourself from the honesty bars negates the novelty.
The room was nice and well appointed however the inability to adequately control the temperature was a point of contention for most of the guests we chatted with. No A/C or the ability to open a window made the rooms very stuffy.

It would seem that most of these points have been raised in previous reviews and unfortunately not been acted on which is a shame.
A few changes could make this place amazing as opposed to the average experience that we had.

Despite some rain, we had a lovely 2 night stay at Pumphouse point. Beautiful food, wonderful staff and incredible scenery.
If you’re an introvert come prepared with some conversations over the communal dinner!

Our room in the Shorehouse was also great!

Fascinating place. We had one of the bedrooms in the original pump house building out on the lake 100 yards from the shore on a concrete jetty.
Bedroom lovely with incredible views out over the water.
Bathroom / shower room a little quirky. Could do with improving the lack of interface between the shower and floor area by the sink / toiling.
Breakfast and dinner was original and delicious. Served at larger joint tables with other guests. Nicely organized. The fridge in room was beautifully stocked with lunch items and fresh bread was available every hour - made a delicious lunch.
Liked the Lake St Clair visitor center with its cafe/restaurant & hiking trails. We made use of the e-bikes to get there but unfortunately it took 4 attempts to find a working bike. Need to focus on instruction, adjust saddle height and then making sure the bike actually works ( 3 didn’t).
No Wi-Fi and limited data so be prepared. Some signal with Telstra I believe.

This is truly in the wilderness. We stayed at the shore house and we were glad because it rained for all the 4 days that we were there. The larder provided was lovely and we really enjoyed all the variety of local produce. They do restock the larder every two days if you are staying longer and the food is sufficient. However after 4 days we were getting a bit tired of having sandwiches 🥪. I think it is fine for a couple of days but at this price point would have liked the kitchen to be open for lunch. My biggest big bear , however was that at dinner we were at a shared table. Almost everyone here was celebrating a special occasion and would prefer to be with their partners instead of making small talk with strangers every evening. It wasn’t bad but just some evenings I just wanted to be alone with my partner. This is well documented on their website but we booked this two years ago and had to cancel owing to covid so we didn’t review the terms again. Anyway apart from that it’s a great place to go for a weekend break.

Unique accommodation with good warm service. Breakfast is buffet style, lunch is fresh bakery sourdough with the package food you have in the room, and dinner is three-course. Breakfast and dinner take place in a communal dining area where each table seats between three to four couples. You thus get the opportunity to mingle and talk about each other’s travel and life experiences. They have a backpack to take lunch to go so that you can make the most out of your day out and about exploring the National park. Hotel had e-bikes and row boats for guest’s use. It’s 60-80 minutes walk from the property to the visitors centre along the beach. Make sure you read what’s on their website prior to booking.

We escaped for Christmas 3 nights. Was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived until we left the staff were just so good at their job. We booked a room on the second floor for the floor to ceiling windows. Loved the stocked larder and we didn't manage to eat everything. Lots of honesty bars stacked full of favourite wines and spirits. Meet some wonderful people over dinner and the food was just delicious. What a magical place.
