Avis Rent a Car

Although we had booked the car rental in advance, when we arrived at the SK Avis agency to pick it up, we were told an error had been made and while a car was there for us, it needed to be returned in Seoul and not Busan as we had planned.

After a long conversation, we decided to cancel the booking and found an alternative car rental agency on the 2nd floor (same building) Lotte! Brilliant and highly recommended if you are travelling in South Korea 🙂

We were a bit frightened because of a bad review on Google, but that turned out to be wrong. We tried to pick up the car a bit earlier than we said we would, which was apparently breaktime for the sales person. There was a number we could call, but we were told that he didn't speak English. It took a while for him to show up, but his explanations on the insurance policy, pickup and drop-off rules and road rules were excellent. The itinerary could use more instructions on how to reach the place though, it is actually located in a parking garage on floor B1! The car we got was amazing, a Hyundai Avante from 2022

Avoid this place at all costs and use the rental car service on the second floor. On November 26, I accidently rented from them thinking that it was the rental service on the second floor (not some broke down office in the basement level of the parking garage), and boy do I regret it. This rental service is SK Rental now, not Avis, and it is the most unprofessional and poorly managed car rental business that I have used in my life. When I came to pick up the car, the front desk staff was so lazy and unprofessional that he did not even give me any information about the insurance coverage or the breakdown of the cost. He seemed frustrated that he even had to actually do his job and help a customer. In addition, he was extremely rude and wasted 20 minutes of my life arguing with me about the need for me to speak fluent Korean, because he had to wait one minute for me to look up the word "deductible" in my translation app and use about a total of five English words to give me the information I wanted. Then, he gives me a car that barely had any gas in the tank, because he was too lazy to fill the tank and service the car properly before my arrival...Hold on, there's more.

When I arrived to return the car, the front desk staff was sleeping and snoring so loud in his chair that I had to bang the car key on the counter and yell "hello" multiple times before he woke up. Moreover, he was not even wearing professional clothes or a uniform. He was dressed in spandex, shorts and a fleece as if he just came from the gym. Again, he was so lazy that it took him a few minutes to slowly slither about one meter to exit the front door and inspect the car so that I could leave instead of trying to get me out of there as soon as possible like a true professional. It seemed like the same staff member I dealt with the previous day. The office is in the corner of the parking garage basement, and it is so broke down that they probably only have one employee.

This place is a total disgrace. As a man with a family, professional and efficient service is important to me, because I want to maximize my time with family and avoid the additional stress beyond having to care for my child. The car rental service on the second floor is way better, and I would highly recommend that you visit them instead.

A good rent a car place. We did look for a car to rent as we plan to do a road trip here in South Korea. It just that we have miscommunication but all in all. Great service.

조만간 SK렌트카로 넘어가는 입장이라 그런지 2주 전에 예약 했는데도 차량 준비상태 엉망임. 메이저 3사 렌트카 중 차량 관리 최악임. SK렌트카로 간판 바꿔달면 좀 나아지려나??
위치는 양재역 주차장 지하 1층
지하층에서 차량을 인수 받기 때문에 이용자 스스로 휴대폰 플래시나 아니면 미리 성능 좋은 플래시를 준비해서 차량 상태 꼼꼼하게 체크해야 함.

Ok. Good car with good GPS. The office is in the parking garage, one semi-floor down. The lack of light makes damage inspection awkward.
