Great statue of Jan Hus, a Christian reformer, who started the Hussitism and was burned in 1415 by the Catholic church for heresy.
His death started the Hussite wars from 1420-1434, which the Hussite emerged victorious after 5 crusades.
This is considered a major event in the bohemian reformation, which is grand historical event in Early Modern History.

Super iconic monument of one of the most famous figures in the Czech history. It's not that much of my style visually, but it's still fascinating, especially knowing the history.
A nice statue in the middle of old town square. I think it would be better to get some information before visiting this monument. Although it is not one of the hottest spots for Prague, I think this monument is actually important.
This 1915 statue is located at the center of the Old Town Square a block away from the historic Astronomical Clock. A busy square with restaurants, visitors, and street vendors.
Left is Jan Hus Memorial, and on the right is the gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn - a dominant feature here in Old Town.

This memorial stands in tribute to the martyrdom of Jan Hus and the allegorical victory of the reformers. The memorial is truly monumental in size and dominates the centre of the old town square.
The memorial is a bronze sculpture depicting Jan Hus standing defiantly in the middle of the sculpture. To the left is the defeated counter-reformers and to the right is a woman, an allegorical reference to national rebirth.
A fine memorial and worth visiting if in Prague, along with all the other attractions in the old town square.

This monument of stone and bronze made by Ladislav Šaloun is one of the most significant Art Nouveau and Symbolist works of Czech Monumental Sculpture.
It is dominated by the figure of the martyr Huss above a burning stake, looking towards the main Hussite Church of the Virgin Mary in front of Týn Church. Then there are groups of people, fighters with a shield and a flail and opposite to it there is a group of humiliated people, representing the exhiles in the period of the oppression after the Battle of the White Mountain. In 1903 the foundation stone of this monument was laid and the monument was unofficially unveiled in 1915 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Jan Hus martyrdom (the festive event was prohibited). Celebrations were postponed for a more favourable time. Prague citizens at least covered the monument with flowers at that time. After the foundation of the Republic, signs were added and in 1926 bowls for fires and railings

The monument was so large that the sculptor designed and built his own villa where the work could be carried out.

The center points of the city. Crowded by tourists in both Day and night. Many kind of restaurants in the area (many asian restaurants). Most mini mart run by Vietnamese. The town is so beautiful with old building. I didn’t use public transport in Prague. The places to see is close to each other so I just walked all around.
