This is a quaint little church located at the corner of Via Quattro Fontana and Via del Quirinale. It was designed by Francesco Borromini (1634-44) and makes for a nice sightseeing opportunity if you plan to pass by to see the four street corner fountains located at this intersection.

You will see are delightful Baroque facade with fluid curves and niches filled with statues. Within, you will find a small oval-shaped nave with a nice altar and unique elliptical coffered inner dome to create an illusion of scale in the elegantly fitted little church. It is a nice church designed by Bernini's contemporary and rival, Borromini

The Chiesa di San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane, also known as the Church of Saint Charles at the Four Fountains, is a small but architecturally significant Baroque church located in Rome, Italy. Designed by the famed architect Francesco Borromini in the 17th century, the church is renowned for its innovative and dynamic architectural features. Despite its modest size, San Carlino is celebrated for its unique oval-shaped floor plan, intricate geometric patterns, and masterful use of light and shadow. The façade of the church is adorned with elegant columns and sculptures, showcasing Borromini's signature style. Inside, visitors are treated to a harmonious blend of architectural elements, including graceful curves, elaborate stucco work, and vibrant frescoes. With its innovative design and artistic beauty, the Chiesa di San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane stands as a testament to Borromini's genius and remains a beloved landmark in Rome's architectural landscape.

Amazing 4 fountains and architecture but needs to be cleaned and restored. At least it's worth a visit to see the facade and the 4 fountains and the work that went into them

Amazing architecture, we stumbled on this on our way to see the Colosseum. The art and architecture was amazing. It is free to walk in, just make sure your shoulders are covered.

The Church of St Charles at the Four Fountains was built by Francesco Borromini in 1646. Similar to his St Ivo at the Sapienza, the decoration is sparse and the focus is on geometric shapes. The facade undulates between concave and convex shapes, a clear break from the classical rigidity of the Renaissance.
It is considered a masterpiece of Baroque, but I'm not impressed.
