I have yet to do my first workout, but the staff has been more than accommodating thus far. I was almost late, so I had to jog in. I was hot and sweaty when I arrived.
I was offered a sparkling water as soon as I arrived by the front desk attendant. The trainer walked me through the contract and made sure I filled it out correctly. He helped me make an appointment for Monday, told me what to bring, and wished me well.
I explained one of my goals in Leipzig is to gain a better grasp on the language and culture of Deutschland, and the front desk attendant warned me she’s only going to speak to me in German, so I better be ready.
Although I could tell that they really wanted me to do a workout before signing the contract, my main reason for choosing this gym is the way the owner protects his employees‘ good names. It is risky for a business owner to put the employees first. I appreciate that more than AC. They weren’t going to stop me from supporting a business that makes them the #1 priority.
I look forward to my next 90 days - both to get back in shape after an accident, but also to learn more about the gym, the employees, and Leipzig in general.

Update. If I could give a billion stars, it wouldn’t be enough for the kindness, professionalism, and knowledge my trainer has shared with me. Lars walked me through all of the workouts he has planned for me, made observations, corrected my form, and listened to my likes and dislikes of certain exercises. He was able to notice mobility issues I have just by watching. He adjusted my exercises accordingly.
If you find yourself in the beautiful city of Leipzig, and want to have an amazing gym experience, Matthias Sport and Lars are your ticket to a wonderful workout experience.

Best gym I’ve been to, among the ones that I’ve tried. Now I moved to a different country and I really miss Matthias Sport Center… the equipment and staff were amazing. Ivo in particular is very competent and always available to help. He can also explain in perfect English, which is great for international members like me. This gym offers a very wide range of classes with great teachers, that’s one of the things I loved the most. Many gyms feel anonymous and “cold”, but this one has a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Definitely recommended!

Needs air conditioning otherwise great.
Great studio and nice atmosphere! Very clean and good equipment. It is rarely crowded and the staff are always super nice. Have nothing to complain so far :).
I go here for my medical condition and to regulate my testosterone levels
