Pizza surprised me. Every time I've gone the slice has been better than the time before. A good sign.

Love the pizza here! So good and everyone is so sweet! Had a great experience

Staff were really friendly and the place felt authentic to an Italian pizza place. I got the barbeque chicken pizza; it was a nice slice but definitely not worth $6!

Absolute best pizza in town.
& every other town for that matter.
Nicest staff as well.
In the heart of Tribeca, you can’t go wrong.
They have extensive menu beyond pizza.
You’ll love it there.

If I could give them 10 stars I would best pizza in Manhattan great family good service.

I had heard about this pizza restaurant from several colleagues so decided to check it out.
The pizza was the best I tiried in the area, the only downside was that they charged me $2.50 for a can of Coke and then accused me of not checking prior to ordering and paying. I only read the menu while eating my pizza... I can see fresh costs increasing, but not a can of soda by over 50%. If they had spoken to me in a nicer tone, I think I would have been okay, but they started shouting at me in front of everyone.
I really hoped this had not happened because I would have become a regular.

Il Mattone is a hole-in-the-wall pizzeria on Beach Street. the tiny pizza shop has no seats—it’s basically a takeout and delivery joint. it’s a little messy inside but the interior is clean. there are small parks within walking distance if you want to eat al fresco and enjoy your ‘zza right away. il Mattone has a variety of pies and slices on display— their menu includes a variety of pasta and sandwiches, too.
while there is no lack of good pizza places in NYC—Il Mattone hits this standard easily and serves up a very good to great classic NYC slice. grabbed two slices for lunch, and the ‘zza did not disappoint. the slice is everything you want in the old school New Yorker pizza. the slice is thin crust style—fairly crispy and a little bit of chew in the crust. the sauce is seasoned well balanced between saltiness, sweetness, and Italian spices. a soft melty blanket of cheese topping it all. all combining to make one delicious slice that will sate the hangriest of eaters. served super hot as i prefer. plain cheese slice, $3 + tip
staff is curt and efficient.
